This page and the links to the same are now removed from M.E.A.L. website. What is cooking with this launch?

Did you receive a response yet whether the charger is mandatory or optional? Also has your dealership forced to buy accessories pack from them or have you selected accessories that you want?

I went through the warranty terms and conditions and there seem to be too many terms and conditions to be able to get the unlimited warranty. Some of then being
1. Shouldnt drive above 20kmph on rough roads to avoid external damage to the battery pack
2. Making sure we use only ARAI certified chargers
3. Not trying to recharge at the same charger after the first time an error occurs
4. Must recharge within 24 hours of battery reaching 0% and so on.

Doesn't give a lot of confidence to the buyer as we cant plan for everything to be as per plan on the highways. After reading through the conditions, i felt it is best I wait sometime to see how these vehicles work in the actual conditions we face in India

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I echo what people have highlighted from the manual.

Additionally;

1. Software is paid after 1 year? What? For a software-driven car?
You would receive software updates related to the Battery and improvements for the vehicle, from time to time, free of cost for a minimum period of 1 year from the date of registration. Thereafter, any software updates, whether related to the Battery, improvements for the vehicle or otherwise, shall be provided to the customer on a chargeable basis.

2. What is the point of the 12V socket altogether? And is that the only way we can tap power? Does this invalidate other applications?
Use of the 12V battery as a power source, i.e. using the power from the 12V battery for any purpose except the vehicle’s original functionalities
3. There's also a part about having to charge the car every couple of months / needing MnM to disconnect the battery (at home?) if the system is left offline for >2 months/ needing to never not use the care for >6 months at a time. And that the telemetry systems cannot be turned off at any point.
  • This means it cannot be the car you leave back home when you go overseas for an undefined period.
  • Additionally, it doesn't look like one can disconnect the battery themselves. Lastly, none of these issues with a regular ICE car. NOW this has me rethinking taking the plunge.

Also, the bit about <20KMPH on bad roads to spare the battery: In a Mahindra? That's not what we buy Mahindras for!

Thank you for pointing this out. Would some other EV owners be able to tell caveats of battery warranty by other manufacturers provided 7-8+ years of warranty? Would be interesting to know if this is a Mahindra the thing or an across the board practice.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Lastly, have a look at the ADAS feature set page. It seems to indicate that until feature 11, the most important ADAS 2 features are present in pack 2. I've been asking multiple people for weeks in three cities to no avail. If so, I am delighted with Pack 2 XEV 9E since it is a good purchase at 26L on the road since it's about 55K insurance, 25.4L ex-showroom, and perhaps 10k for footmats and mudflaps.

Mandatory as Mahindra is billing it to the showrooms. Only if they stop billing it as a package (likely, perhaps next year?) will the showrooms be able to pass on just the car to us purchasers. Perhaps the first lot of buyers check their waybills to confirm this. Multiple dealers have said they would like to help but it's not just policy, rather a mandatory cost for them.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Found this in the manual for battery warranty. On one hand it's good that the terms are clearly defined as per SOH of the battery, which I did not find in Tata or MG's battery warranty statement (others please correct me on this if you know about it) , but on the other, this clearly shows that the lifetime warranty is nothing but a 15 year/200,000 km warranty. So what they are assuring is that at least 70% SOH will be maintained till 15 years/200,000 km, else they will replace the battery (subject to a myriad of other conditions others have mentioned before). The 'lifetime' is therefore 15 years.

The SOH for 3 years to 7 years time range indicates minimum SOH as 75% only. I interpret this correctly, if anything happens to battery then Mahindra will restore battery SOH to at least 75% of original capacity.

75% SOH for the 2 battery pack translate to below. The smaller battery SOH would be close to what Nexon.ev 45 has.
- 79kWh *0.75 = 59.25kWh
- 59kWh *0.75 = 44.25kWh
Isn't 75% SOH too low for upto 7 year mark if something were to happen to battery?

This is quite concerning as there are 3 year old Nexons with 60k kms on ODO at 96% SOH and negligible range drop. I hope this is just Mahindra playing it safe rather than giving everyone the short end of the stick.

I kept the ex-showroom price as 31.25 I.e. includes the charger price to maintain parity with the dealer's value.

I've given it to the dealer, he hasnt come back with a counter yet. So let's see.
Pls update when you hear back from the dealer. While I was extremely impressed with the XEV9, reading about the insurance saga (& Mahindra's indifference to it) leaves a lot to be desired. Looks like my decision to wait it out till the froth settles might just be correct
