That's great, will try it in the evening.

What I've noticed, is that a lot of settings while showing on, doesn't actually start working without togglining it off/on from settings. Same thing applicable for mirror dip on reverse and for some the Auto Dimming IRVM as well.

Better late than never. At least now you have something to cling on to while waiting for the car. Congratulations and All the best.

I have had first hand experience with this where starting with 1 issue, the final list reached 29 recorded issues over a span of 6 recorded visits [Link (My experience with Mighty Mahindra Service | A word of caution for fellow Mahindra car owners)].

In my opinion, even if you wait for a year after launch, it’s still a gamble (like it turned out in my case despite buying after almost an year). Observing the last 5 years closely, the problem is 2 folds – firstly, it lies with initially there being less focus on quality as majority focus is on selling quantities at launch. Secondly, once everyone gets accustomed to the initial teething issues with hacks, improved parts, etc., there is a new launch post which there is zero effort on a year old product from Mahindra and the service centers are focusing on getting accustomed to new product. Examine the timeline from Thar’s launch back in October 2020 which got all attention till XUV700 launch in October 2021, then ScorpioN, then 3XO, then Roxx and now the EV twins – after each successive & immensely successful launch, the earlier product didn’t get much improvements (like the famous football in boot noise in XUV700, no Google Maps integration on instrument cluster, etc.) and owners (both old & new) had to be content with what was available.

Coming back to the 9E, it’s quite irresistible to look the other way from M&M’s value for money preposition – while at the service centre, couldn’t help the urge to consider buying one, despite all the hardships in the XUV700. But before I got carried away, got a much needed reality check from my family.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Did a city runabout of 111 Km ( Gurgaon - Delhi ) in 22% of battery. Got 8.3KM/Kwh on Delhi to GGN and encountered very heavy traffic on return. Total efficiency turned out to be
7.3KM/Kwh.
Did not drove to eke out efficiency. Was the fastest on the road whenever got the chance. Loved the drive. ADAS L2+ works like a champ.

I have also got a call from Dealership that invoicing will be done today and Delivery will be on Sunday most likely. But there is no excitement now, because I am not sure if this will happen as confirmed. My fear is, they might call again and tell that Mahindra has stopped the delivery/Invoicing.

Meanwhile this is what is happening from China that is the leaderboard in EVs. Can we blame our Indian carmaker having a torrid time sorting out challenges with EV?

Ah yes, the classic "Look what’s happening in China!" deflection.

A tragic high-speed crash involving an advanced driver-assist system has absolutely nothing to do with Mahindra struggling to activate CarPlay. Comparing the two is like comparing a space shuttle failure to a car failing to start because the key fob battery is dead.

Mahindra’s issues aren’t about cutting-edge tech pushing boundaries, they’re about basic functionality that should have been sorted before launch. No one forced them to release the XUV 9e in this state. If they weren’t ready, they shouldn’t have rushed it. Simple as that.

See my point is we be excessively harsh towards Indian carmakers while giving slip to others.

MG Windsor was launched without any issues because Wuling Cloud was launched internationally and then in India, all the issues were sorted in home market.

We’d hold any automaker to the same standard, regardless of their origin.

The issue here isn’t about being mean, it’s about broken promises. They promised certain features at launch, paraded near-perfect products to the media, and then left customers with a car riddled with quality issues.
How can anyone not be upset when they buy a car based on glowing reviews, only to get a sub-standard product with hidden demons under the hood?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I have done 700kms after taking delivery on the 31st of march. I haven’t faced any niggles so far. A few features aren’t working, that’s it. I was told it will be released in the next update. I’m planning a long drive with family till Goa from Erode via Bangalore this month. Hope all goes smoothly..

Why does Mahindra have to launch a vehicle with so many bugs / defects..no one forced them to launch it within this time frame that they make a mockery of themselves or make a fool out of the initial beta testing customers..please don't get me wrong, but the point remains that they show the customers the entire world and provide only peanuts in form of non functional features..so much so that my car has been lying in the service center for more than 2 days now just to get the boot functioning properly..not that they are not paying heed to my problem. They have an entire team of engineers come down from the plant to get it working, but they have still not been able to zero down on the problem

True and I totally agree with wooka on this. FOMO too as prices may increase or the state governments trick people into becoming beta testers like the Maharashtra govt did recently by announcing 6% tax on EV and then withdrawing it 10 days later just to force me into buying the first batch of vehicles.

as echoed in a post I put out yesterday about skipping non-critical repairs right now. It will radically change your experience of owning a beta car. Two years on, I still consider my Scorpio-N a beta car. Unfortunately, some beta versions never go beyond 'RC-release candidate,' which is still replete with bugs. Thus, I had to trash my new Thar.
True. I also run the risk of not raking up this issue now and they put the entire blame of it malfunctioning on me 2 months hence and I get to know that I won't even get warranty on this. Atleast for the moment, they wish to portray their product as trouble-free and are hence sending in teams of people to look into it asap

All I can say is that every buyer who has money to buy such a car is mature/ knowledgeable enough to make a decision. But we as humans have this habit of ignoring some hard-known facts "as one of the incidents" and "it won't happen to me" and still get invested in them.

EV prices have been getting reduced year to year, and with new global conditions, I don't think any manufacturer can increase like they did in the past. On the contrary, chances are these may get reduced as the input costs become lower. Globally, the demand is going to get shrunk, that's a given.

My personal views remain unchanged, I will pick a basic car (with fewer features) over a WIP model like these EVs from Mahindra unless I have some academic reasons (learn how EVs work and I want to spend maximum time at the workshop getting hands on experience)

That's another perspective. I will agree. On the one hand, we have manufacturers like Toyota with limited models like Fortuner/ Innova/ Land-Cruisers on shared platforms, selling globally and still changing the model only after 10-12 years. Opposite, we have domestic manufacturers coming up with new chassis/ models every other year. I think we are going the Chinese way or maybe a large population wants to have the latest gizmos and whatnot in the car.

So, both Mahindra and Tata are doing exactly what customers want. They will do the same cycle—introduce a model, focus on when that is launched, and then move on to the next one. Wash, rinse, repeat. Only the customers change, the rest remain the same

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I have now driven 400+ km in three days (took delivery on 31st but have driven only 3 days). I am extremely happy and satisfied with my purchase (touchwood, hopefully I don't retract this post in the years to come). ALL the features are working now. Even the ones not working initially like the buttons on the left side of steering or secure 360 in me4u app (they started working automatically, not sure if there was an OTA update while it was parked or something). Used autopark, all the Adas suite features, groove me and everything I could find in the menus. Everything is working right now. Even charged once on my friend's MG 7kw charger from 8% to 100% (was pretty easy and took about 10.5 hrs overnight). The car was delivered to me at 60% charge and I did 248 km on it to bring the battery down to 8% before plugging in (much of it in race mode and stand still trying out features with AC on), so I expect the range to be easily 500+.

I just wanted to voice out my experience as well as I see so many members facing issues. Maybe I am an exception, but as of now, I would whole-heartedly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a car in this range.
