It is not that simple. Cars with 79kWh batteries are substantially larger and heavier than cars with smaller batteries. This results in both higher wind resistance and higher rolling resistance. On top of this, vehicles with bigger batteries are also generally loaded with energy sapping features like very powerful motors, multiple large screens, high power music systems (upto 1400W for the BE 6 and XEV 9e), powerful multi zone air conditioning for a larger cabin, etc. All these fators affect the efficiency. For larger vehicles with massive batteries, 7kWh/km (real value, not the value shown on the MID) will be a good result.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hi guys

After facing no problems for the last 15 days since we got the car, suddenly yesternight the e-sim of the car has stopped working. This quite a problem since the navigation music and other features depend on the e-sim. Told the dealership about this issue and 2 people came and tried to fix it for 2 hours at my home and after no result told me to bring the car to the workshop tomorrow for this problem.

I am scared of sending this car to the dealership since a lot of people here have faced even more problems after doing so.

I am thinking of escalating this directly to Mahindra because I don't think the dealership can really solve this issue as the people who came didn't even know how to use memory seat adjustment

Anyways if anyone has faced this issue or knows how to solve it please do tell.

Thanks

This is the video, in the end he shares the consumption details in the app

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-screenshot-20250407-152758.png

Maybe it is displaying the km/kWh based on partial consumption (total - AC?)
KW used = 79kw x 96% x 86.5% = 66kw.
Efficiency = 500km/66 = 7.6 km/kwh

There should be a setting to show the km/kWh based on driving only vs overall consumption.

He also mentions that XEV did ~480km

New day, new experiences! What I missed yesterday was the distance setting, when in traffic, keeping short distance really helped today and the car crawled through the entire bumper-to-bumper traffic with ease (i mostly kept the steering). It felt nothing short of auto-pilot with a super easy drive and some supernatural experience too .

At faster speeds, the car did brake hard once, when another vehicle was driving between lanes, that part of ACC I'll have to practice to manage 55-80kmph in traffic, but in general the ACC is not aggressive and does well.

I'm definitely keeping this on forever.

No issues so far!

Update:-

After much delay I have got my car delivered today. Oh my God! What a feeling it is ! My first EV XEV 9E Nebula Blue.
With all the update that Only Mahindra Is deciding things, it is dealership too who has a say in delivery. In my case i got this car after escalating to Mahindra and they forwarded my escalation to the same dealership. And they finally decided to give me this car.

I am planning to a round trip to Jaipur, will share my experience after that.

I am not sure how that kind of representation on the MID is remotely even useful. Also no other EV cars do this, most mid figures are close to accurate and accuracy helps in proper range estimation instead of relying on the DTE which is more a measure of past drive cycle. So it’s clearly a case of incorrect/over-estimate which Mahindra need to fix. There was one user who showed 12.8km/kwh expecting a 1000km range.

But again 500km is awesome. Ones expecting Pack 2 should expect 375-390km of range.

Here are some more stats from the TATA EZ 7.2kw public charger.

Charger says: 49.307 units delivered to the car in 6 hours 53 minutes.

Car says: Got 54%

My Bank says: Paid Rs. 814

So that is to say, to charge 42.66kw of the battery, it consumed 6.64 extra units. Basically an efficiency loss of 15.5% (or call it an overhead if you must). I feel it is also something to do with more losses when going beyond 80% or so.

The car generally returns between 6.4-7km/ kw, which means, with these chargers, I pay: Rs. 2.98 per km for driving it really smooth and easy.

On a separate note, let me list down a few quirks:

- The DID (Driver Information Display) and the gear lever backlights stay on while charging, only heating up the DID for no good reason even when the car was parked and locked for 7 hours!.

- No way to control internet usage on the third screen.

- No way to turn off AC from short-cut menus. Can only be done from full screen AC menu. + Even if you turn the whole thing off, it turns on when the car is restarted.

- The middle-headrest had to be removed, now at least I see helmets of riders and foreheads of drivers behind me!

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hi Friends
My list of issues is growing with every passing day. After the SW update at the service station VisionX stopped working. SA asked me to send the vehicle to workshop, but as per the advise given here in the forum avoided it.

Now, yesterday OTW from Delhi to Gurgaon all three displays blacked out, ADAS haptics stopped, no control on changing AC Settings, no audio/music system, no camera views.
Basically only info aval is from the gear shift knob, and that is what allowed me to drive it back to home.

Left with no other option but to send the vehicle to workshop.

I wonder why Mahindra decided to launch this product without ensuring the stability of systems and testing of software? They themselves are responsible for killing the future of what could have been a truly world-class car.

Does anyone have the contact details and escalation matrix for Mahindra? Kindly share so that I can take it up with the right stake holders and highlight the poor state of software and its stability.

Just go to X and go to Mahindra Automotive Channel or Mahindra For you. DM them and they will reply and raise your concern. If you are not satisfied they will escalate it further when you message them again.

Did that help you?
I have called customer care and raised a complaint. They said i would get a call within 2 hours but i didn't get any.
I have tagged Mahindra and posted it in X. Got a DM, after giving the details, they responded saying they forwarded my details to senior management of the dealer and that's it. No movement after that.

A Team-BHP member, DeKay, had previously shared the escalation contact details in an earlier post. I'm including the link and relevant information here for your reference.

Escalation Process:
1. Step 1: Send an email to Level 1 and CC Level 2.
2. Step 2: If there is no response within 2 business days, forward the original email to Level 1 and Level 2, and CC Level 3.
3. Step 3: Continue this pattern, escalating to the next level every 2 days if no satisfactory response is received.

Hey,
They do respond and i just noticed today that Mahindra wanted to reach out to me after reading my long sad post here (Mahindra XEV 9e Review)! But the timeline of our car delivery wont be affected by us reaching out to them. However it will definitely keep the management on its toes. Someone else also pointed this out on the forum, that Mahindra customer care responds actively. I would suggest that you keep posting on twitter, email customer care and try to reach out to your Area Sales Manager. He will be the highest authority in your area who you can talk to directly. I am supposed to get my vehicle today or tomorrow after so much of back and forth. Lets hope it actually gets delivered tomorrow.
