I tried various escalations to sweeten the deal for them, as well as gave them other colour options. The experts would be able to see from the booking timelines and reference numbers that they are taking me for a ride

But Mr. Anand Mahindra (We share Names and Abbreviation AM), it doesn't end with making a new vehicle, You repeated the booking faults of the ROXX with the XEV. All your dealers around me follow unfair practices. If a buyer, after waiting for about 7+ months from the booking date, still plans to cancel when just 10 days away from the dispatch date, it should give you sufficient insight.
Update
So, I imagined at a certain underlying level that someone from Mahindra would approach me given the clear cases of Dealer high handedness. (Detailed in the original post)

Nope, instead, I was approached twice by their finance team that the car was on the verge of being delivered and questioned if I wanted a loan. On my turning down the loan and later checking with the dealer SA was told my colours were not available.

To make it easier for them, I added Ruby Velvet to Red and Green in the XEV 9e and Red to Burnt Senna for the Thar ROXX acceptable colours. I was told in the case of XEV that the vehicle is not available in my colours in their due-to-arrive stocks and that the ROXX would be dispatched on the 23rd APR from the factory.

Now, given that I have already decided to go ahead only with one car at the most from Mahindra at this point in time and that the family is now more interested in the XEV, it just doesn't work for me.

What has really surprised me is the absence of any proactive communication from Mahindra, or its dealer, though I have shared the OG Post with them.

If you've had similar experiences—especially with range accuracy or EYE DENTITY; I’d love to know your take. Also, for new buyers, don’t forget to get your app services activated during delivery itself, and if possible, capture the delivery moment on video; you won’t regret it.
Really Happy for you, after so much frustration you finally got what you wanted. I haven’t faced any of the issue listed by you. My issue list:-

1. Previously mentioned AC failure on the 2nd day of delivery.
2. TPMS is very inconsistent. Every time it is showing different numbers.
3. Frequently tyre pressure loss error warning on DID.
4. Drive is little unsettling, i mean suspension is not as tunes as it was quoted by Mahindra.

Do post your experience after a long trip, wishing you a very happy and tension free ownership .

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Well when it was said that Mahindra is coming with a EV based on 700 or similar size, I was hoping it to come with the EV version of 700! Just like how Tata is planning the Harrier EV! Reason is that since XUV 700 is already a little old and tried and tested and now must be with less niggles and issues, it would be safer. But an all new car with gizmos loaded, oh boy! However tempting it might be, cannot take the risk as an old Mahindra customer (XUV 500), who have been through a hell lot over the years for buying an initial batch car from Mahindra!

SPD I've installed is of Citel make

If you can afford get seperate switchgears,
4P B curve MCB + type B rccb( i can source it for you, regular indian channels wont have it.

If budget is not an issue then microprocessor based release MCCB in conjunction with RCM device.

It will provide fine tune control of leakage detection as well as configurable trip settings unlike an MCB that has fixed trip characteristics.

Keep an eye on the input voltage as well.

If it helps, you are not alone buddy. I have a very similar experience with Mahindra. Have bookings of Thar Roxx and XEV 9e made withing first couple of minutes at the time of opening of bookings. I have made at least 10 follow ups with Mahindra support and dealer and yet have no visibility on delivery. Seriously reconsidering my decision to try Mahindra (influenced by Indian factor). I will wait till end of April and after that I will also be looking at alternatives.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

In similar boat, we have booked Thar Roxx and XEV 9E.

From 7th March, 2025 (when M&M made the charger optional), I conveyed my decision not to opt for the charger to SA and his Team Leader. On 20th March, 2025, the Team Leader requested that I drop an email, to which I did.
On 26th March, 2025, I received a call from NBS International (Andheri, Mumbai) stating our XEV 9E has been allotted.
27th March, 2025, I received an official email from NBS for the allotment. Talking about efficiency and attention to detail, the email subject mentioned ‘Allotment of Thar Roxx’ whereas the email description mentioned ‘XEV 9E’. WhatsApp group was created. EV Manager introduced everyone. But, I still don’t understand what’s the point of having a group when our messages are completely ignored?
Same day (27th March, 2025), we received a reply to our email which we sent on 20th, regarding the charger. The tone of the email was rude and showed that NBS or M&M have no trust in the customer. Also, after a week’s time, NBS concluded that at first we need to pay for the charger (₹75,000) and at the time of delivery they will issue a credit note of the same amount. God knows whether they can be trusted.
Between 27th March and 28th March, I shared all documents for the loan process with the person at NBS handling loans. The person said due to the financial year ending, the process will start from 3rd April, 2025.

Summarising the current situation :-
1. VIN/Chassis No. haven’t been shared till date, even after me requesting it since 27th March.
2. There is no timeline on delivery, as per NBS the car is manufactured in March 2025 and undergoing software updates which takes 6 hours. It is now the 4th day as per the dealership, and the car is still at the service centre.
3. Contemplating cancelling both XEV 9E and Thar Roxx. This is not the experience we want while plonking ~₹60L in a brand from the same dealership. Also, assuming we take deliveries of both cars, their cars aren’t niggle-free, how can we be assured that either the brand or the dealership will even listen to the complaints and have enough workforce to work towards resolution?
I cannot book at any other dealerships, as the second nearest is Randhawa Motors and I have absolutely no good words to say about them either (had pre-booked Thar Roxx, and getting the amount refunded was a pain).

I am assuming NBS has delivered our allotted XEV to someone else, reasons being:
1. We have just paid ₹21,000 booking amount, and denied to pay a single penny without doing PDI.
2. We have strictly told them either we are going for insurance from outside or they are matching the our insurance quote.
3. We are not interested in buying accessories in a huge amount, or taking the charger.

With electric car how do i replicate this i.e slope downwards but i want to roll the car slightly upwards without pressing accelerator?
Auto hold will do it, no need for even parking brake while auto hold is enabled. Regen and one pedal drive will not hold the car on a slope.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Report - Highway run of 546Km with achieved range of 515KM in 100% SOC

  1. Did a 546KM run from Gurgaon to Fatehpur,Sikar and back.
  2. Mode Used: Power Saving
  3. Regen: Auto-regen 100% of time.
  4. Air con mode: Regular (not Eco)
  5. Temperature set: 25c
  6. Style of driving: Trying to keep 90km/hr at all times. Only dropping when traffic or surroundings forcing me to drop speed. Overtook anyone who was below 90km/hr.

Got a range of 515Km in full 100% SOC(a bit better as I left with 97% SOC).

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-trip-map.png

Chargers used on the trip

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-chargers-used.png

Keypoints:

  • Started Early morning with 97% SOC
  • Hit 250KM in 50% ( The route going has an incline )

Elevation Data below
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-elevation.png

250KM checkpoint
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-initial-250kms.jpeg

Reached Fatehpur with 45% SOC (~260KM from Start)

Charged at ChargeZone from 45 to 74% in around 45minutes. Car pulled 45KW from what was marketed as 30KW gun

Session details from the APP
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-cz-session-app.jpeg

Session details from the Car
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-cz-session-car.jpeg

On the way back, saw an XOBOLT charger with auto-charge function. I wanted to test it, as I was not able to register for Autocharge with ChargeZone earlier.

Hence I wanted to see that it was the Car or CPO at fault.
  • Registered Autocharge in one go
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-autocharge-done.jpeg
  • Charger was charging at 30KW. One Tiago was also connected at 18KW
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-xobolt-chargin-speed.jpeg

Topped ~13KW again. The car reported a gain of 15%.

Session details from the APP
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-xobolt-receipt.png

Session details from the Car
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-topup-reported-car.jpeg

Hence, total top-up of 44% in the entire trip

Crossed 500KM mark with 47% SOC. Which means 3% SOC left.

Taking into account that I left at 97% SOC, this becomes 6% SOC left.

Hence, I crossed 500KM with 94% SOC and 6% SOC Left

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-500-mark.jpeg

With full 100% SOC consumption, I did 515KM
Mahindra XEV 9e Review-0-soc.jpeg

Last 200KM show efficiency of 8.1KM/kwh, thanks to the incline now helping out. Do check out the average speeds for this run as well. Due to later in the evening timing, the roads were little free.

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-last-200km-leg.jpeg

Total trip ended up with 546KM with 40% SOC Remaining.

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-total-trip.jpeg

Few additional things I noted:
  • Auto-Regen is the best regen for highways. It understands gradients, slope down, slope up, traffic etc and sets the regen accordingly!
  • ADAS L2+ with Smart Pilot is amazing! It can drive on SH level roads with just centre dotted line. I was testing it in various scenarios, and it was working brilliantly. It even navigated a flyover with a downward 180-degree loop merging down to highway lane at 90km/hr. I have hated dumb ADAS systems in the past, but this thing has a mind!
  • Met a Creta driver who was trying to race. Did not involve at that time; he chose another opponent, which was a Brezza. Brezza started to race post some instigation from the Creta driver. Changed from power saving mode to Default mode and overtook Creta while he was overtaking Brezza. Done and Dusted. Switched back to power saving and enjoyed the rest of drive with a grin!

Very satisfied with the car and it has now crossed 2700Kms. I have started to know it better. Will be doing all highway trip in this beast.

In auto-regen mode, is it easy to adjust to the varying levels of regen? Personally, I prefer a consistent regen level, typically Regen 3, to ensure a uniform braking experience.

Haha, that's the perfect stealth mode flex! 😎
Silently watching the drama unfold, then swooping in, leaving both behind before they even knew what hit them. EVs don’t roar - they whisper past with quiet confidence. Love it! 🔋⚡🛣️

Thanks, what rating of the MCB and RCCB do you suggest if the charger has max 32A current rating? Also what would be the approx price for 4P B curve MCB + type B rccb? How can I reach out to you?

While I see you started early morning, but any feedback on AC performance post 12pm? I feel the huge glass area (even when covered) + the open boot, is eating into too much of the AC performance, specifically in the north Indian heat. If I shift the AC to driver only, it gets difficult to sustain beyond a few minutes and then I have to go full AC for some time. Honestly, AC is struggling a bit in the afternoon.

32A 4P MCB would cause nuisance tripping, since there would be harmonic current as well in addition to 32A rated current of Charger.

B40 4P would be the next option
Just so you know The curves are for short-circuit protection rather than overload.

For RCCB 30mA 40A/63A Type B -

Consider AutoReg as no regen and with that, you brake when the traffic ahead slows down. Hence now consider Autoren exactly like you would be reacting with brake pedal, but in this, it uses regen and charges the pack. There is no unnecessary brake/regen when its not needed; for example when you lift off the accelerator at 100 while going down the slope. With Autoreg, it will not drop the speed to charge the pack.

The acceleration is too quick for most owners. Imagine a Brezza gunning, and a Creta furiously trying to overtake with all its might; Then silently XEV leave both of them into the dust. I am sure, no or very few ICE cars below 1CR can even think of beating the XEV/BE.

As I reported in the post, I used Aircon in normal mode and did not saw the AC struggling. I was into the "Desert" area of Rajasthan which is too hot currently and too dry as well. Mahindra gave a very sensible and thick shade for the top moonroof. I cannot image how people deal with Grand Vitara or Windsor! No issue noticed in XEV. Not even once I realised or regretted the moonroof.

That’s a fantastic explanation - thank you for breaking it down so clearly! I was initially under the impression that AutoRegen might behave unpredictably, but your comparison to manual braking logic makes a lot of sense. Love how it prioritizes efficiency by avoiding unnecessary regen, especially in situations like downhill coasting.

The technician mentioned it could be a software calibration issue and advised me to take a 100-km drive at an average speed of 90–100 km/h to allow the system to recalibrate and provide a more accurate range.
This is the same for everyone as of now. The onboard estimation is pretty accurate and will take around 3 to 5 full charge cycles to calibrate.

Happen a few time for me in the 2500kms I have driven. Was told by a tech from my dealership that it will get sorted soon as the system sometimes reboots to clear memory(I am assuming its clearing cache memory). Take this explanation with a pinch of salt, as I cannot verify it but I am optimistic as this sounds reasonable. A restart simply fixes it asap.
