I think they need to add few additional features too to make it competitive & exciting in lower trim models, for eg: Pack 2 79KW 27.9 without 360 camera or ventilated seats ???

There is Pack 2(79kwh) upcoming, hoping they will give extra features like auto park and 360-degree camera, but hoping it to be cheaper than 29 Lakhs. I did not know that Pack 2 does not have a 360-degree camera. I am planning to buy if they at least provide a 360-degree camera, but cheaper than 28 Lakhs or with auto park for 29 Lakhs.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hi owners, quick sense check. I am getting low range in city driving as well. Need to corroborated with your experience.

Exhausted roughly 18 percent consumption in a 70 km city run (100 pc -> 82 pc SOC). 40-60 kmph speed range, low to negligible traffic. Very gentle on the pedal. Default mode. L2 and L3 regen constantly. AC on 24 degrees when external temperature was 35-38 degrees Celsius.

I have, prior, experienced weirdly low range on highway drives as well (practically 380 to 420 kms on full charge while driving at 90 kmph constantly on expressways / highways). I am trying to benchmark against other users to figure out if I should flag it to Mahindra.

Was earlier assuming better range in the city.

Also, does the real time battery consumption screen show you any fluctuations? (The one with graph) It is typically stuck at 5.7 for me, be it in city or on highway.

I'm not experiencing a low range within the city. In fact, I consistently get over 500 km of range while driving in urban conditions. I usually drive in L1 regenerative mode or use single-pedal driving around the NCR region. Single-pedal driving, in particular, can noticeably extend the range.

Keep in mind that the range displayed on the dashboard tends to fluctuate. For a more accurate estimate, it's best to track the total distance covered per full charge.

I’ve also done a few long road trips, typically driving at speeds between 80–110 km/h, and the range in those scenarios usually falls between 400–450 km.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s reassuring to hear that you’re getting over 500 km in city usage — that’s quite encouraging for someone like me who is considering the car but hasn’t even done a test drive yet.

I’ve been tracking ownership feedback closely, and your post adds to the confidence. Seems like regen levels and driving habits really do play a big role. Single-pedal driving sounds like a great feature for city traffic.

Appreciate your input!

Regards,
Mahindra Boi

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I'm experienceing low range too. While the previous charge I tracked ran till around 480km from full to 8% remaining, today the battery went from 100 to 86% for only 40km of city drive, which indicates a sub-300km range. Might be due to the NCR heat and AC working overtime due to that, but is a bit concerning. Will be tracking closely and will update.

Do you have the power consumption app in Mahindra? Does it show what percentage of energy has been used for driving and what percentage has been used by the air conditioning system?

They changed the battery and updated the software. Now everything seems fine. I have noticed one thing different after the update - the DID was staying on all night and my Lithium ion battery was draining 1-2% sitting in idle over night. Now it is turning off. I noticed in the Me4U app whenever the status changed to green - the DID turns on. Before it was staying green always - now i have to refresh it to turn green. Maybe this was the reason for drainage of the LV battery?
So if anyone has a older software version where DID is not turning off i would suggest get it updated asap. Also the LV battery is a pain to reach - have to open about 18 screws and lift a very cumbersome FRUNK. My dad suggested connecting wires to the LV and proving access to it above frunk - i dont know how wise that would be.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

This is my first post on this forum, but I will try my best to be as detailed as possible to help both current buyers and those who are waiting for their vehicle.

Pre-delivery
I made the booking well before the official bookings started in Delhi, through Koncept Mahindra, Lajpat Nagar. I was assigned Mr. Parvinder as my sales representative.
My booking was for the Tango Red, Pack Three variant, and I wanted it delivered before 31st March (as the existing EV policy was supposed to end).

Due to delays and other factors, I had little expectation of getting the vehicle on time. But this time, I decided to use all available resources to ensure the delivery happened before the deadline.

I am from the automotive sector (we supply some parts to Mahindra for this very platform), so I started emailing Koncept Mahindra and Mahindra Automotive from my official email.

They kept informing me that expediting the delivery was not possible. That’s when I used my ultimate weapon: the warning of cancellation.
I informed Mahindra that if the vehicle wasn’t delivered on time, I would cancel my booking, and many others in Delhi might follow.

Another thing I did was to provide them with a list of preferred colours in order.

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-screenshot-20250515-11.27.268239am.png

Suddenly, on 31st March at 3 PM, I got a call from Parvinder that a vehicle in the Deep Forest colour was available. (Honestly, this colour gets complimented almost daily by random strangers.)
I was in Agra and drove back immediately with full excitement, reaching the showroom around 7 PM.

I took delivery, though honestly, the delivery experience was pathetic. Still, I won’t complain much because Mr. Parvinder went out of his way—he registered the vehicle in my name the same day and stayed with us until 11 PM to complete all formalities.

Finally, I had the car I had been waiting so long for. The family was super happy with it, and it’s a head-turner.

Insurance situation
I opted to purchase insurance on my own, as I’ve done with all my vehicles, and I’ve never faced a problem.
I don’t understand why many people in this group paid more than a lakh for insurance. I paid ₹45K for zero depreciation + battery protection.

Charger
I didn’t want to buy the charger from Mahindra, but I still did—because the sales advisor mentioned that M&M was prioritising deliveries with chargers.
I’m not unhappy with it, but I could have saved nearly ₹25K if I’d gone with a third-party brand.

On-road cost
  • Ex-showroom price: ₹30,50,000
  • RTO: ₹5,700
  • Insurance: ₹45,000
  • Charger: ₹50,000

Total Cost = ₹31,50,700

Review of the Car
Coming from a Honda City, and having driven my younger brother’s Safari Dicor and the current-gen Safari, I can say this car is a huge upgrade for me.
It’s super spacious, comfortable (though under-thigh support could be better), huge, powerful—and without a doubt, a head-turner.
I’ll write a detailed review soon, but for now, I’ll keep it short.

Pros:
  • Very well-built
  • Spacious
  • Feature-rich
  • Pretty comfortable
  • (most)features work perfectly
  • No range anxiety
  • Sound quality is excellent
  • Plenty of space for long trips
  • Headlight throw is great for all roads and terrains
  • Three people can sit comfortably in the back seat
  • More than enough power, even on steep climbs

Cons:
  • No Apple CarPlay yet
  • No option to play music via USB cable from iPhone (this is a huge issue for me—Bluetooth sound quality isn’t as good as a wired connection)
  • Many software bugs (though none affect drivability)
  • Uses MMI Maps instead of Google Maps
  • Lack of accessories—even at the showroom
  • Odd steering position; it blocks the instrument cluster (TATA has perfected this, Mahindra should learn)
  • FM reception is BAD—not average, just plain BAD

Range Anxiety

Mahindra XEV 9e Review-img_2034.jpeg
Nope, not for me. I get 450+ km every time, no matter where I drive.
I’ve already completed 5,000+ km, including two long trips:
Attachment 2757550
Delhi to Lucknow and back:
Range: 375 km (4 people, AC on auto always).
Charged once before leaving, once at Agra (120 kW), then in Lucknow. Same on the way back.

Delhi to Pangot and back:
Range: 500+ km (4 people, cruising at 100 km/h, AC always on, luggage in both front and back).
Charged once before leaving, then once at Radisson Rudrapur before the hilly section, and again at the hotel (3.3 kW charger).
No charging needed on the way back.

Daily travel:
Getting a minimum of 7 km/kWh, so 450+ km easily.

Issues still open in the vehicle:
  1. DRL turning off randomly
  2. Steering buttons become unresponsive
  3. Volume control not working
  4. AC in auto mode goes to 0 speed
  5. RCA pending for “Cooking system malfunction”
  6. incorrect “Service Alert” warning.
  7. Camera stops working randomly
  8. Occasional sound quality issues

Few questions I ask myself:

Am I happy with this car? YES
Will I recommend others to buy this car? YES
Is this a good-looking car? YES, it’s a beast and a head-turner for sure
Am I annoyed with the software issues? YES—somewhat, but I know they’re being worked on

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Knowing Mahindra, even if they do announce Apple CarPlay Ultra for the 9e, I fully expect it to arrive around the same time my grandkids ask me what a “car” was. Standard CarPlay itself takes them a geological era to roll out. By the time it actually lands, your warranty’s expired, the car’s sold, and you’ve moved on to telepathic commuting.

Jokes aside, if any Indian car is a perfect candidate for CarPlay Ultra today, it's the 9e:

Nope you won't. This is a proper partnership between Apple and the OEMs. Every part of the software is coded again, and there are a lot of things Apple needs access to and Mahindra will have to do that as well.

Plus the licensing cost will drive the cost up as well, significantly.

Mahindra BE6 & XEV 9E – Real-World Issues Reported by Owners + New Buyer Checklist

As an EV enthusiast closely tracking the Mahindra BE6 and XEV 9E, I’ve compiled

Issues Reported by Users So Far:

I want to add a few more.
1. Battery down after 36 hours of not using the vehicle. Vehicles did not start, and the Mahindra team came within a few hours. The Exide battery (supplied initially in a vehicle) was replaced with another Exide by Mahindra. I heard that the Amaron batteries in delivered vehicles of 9e are not having problem.
2. Tire pressure drops frequently and fluctuates widely from 32 to 36, using nitrogen instead of air. Still, the problem recurs randomly. I went to a workshop once for rectification.

Team Mahindra is supporting, but we are worried that we are needing support.

Please guide.
