Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to share my initial impressions of our XEV 9 in white, which we took delivery of approximately 15 days ago. So far, I'm thoroughly impressed with almost every aspect of the vehicle, including its comfort, features, driving dynamics, suspension, acceleration, minimal cabin noise, generous boot space, and ample leg and headroom. The overhead glass is also a fantastic touch.

One feature that has particularly stood out to me is the 'Boost Mode.' This provides a temporary, race-mode-like acceleration for 10 seconds, proving incredibly useful for swift overtakes on highways.

On a different note, I was hoping to inquire if anyone has explored or utilized the 'BYOD' (Bring Your Own Device) feature in the XEV 9. I'm very interested in implementing this for the rear seats and would appreciate any information regarding the necessary accessories and where they can be purchased. If anyone finds an option from any local market supplier also, do share details for same.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

I have been doing long distance journeys and after sitting for an hour or more, their is pain in the tailbone. Similar observation by my wife who has been co passenger and also recently by my parents sitting at the back.
For a 32 lakh car comfortable seats are a basic requirement. I have never felt this issue in my MG hector or previously owned Scross either.
I feel the cushioning is not upto the mark. I have no problem with the back but it is tailbone where I feel the seat lacks cushioning.
Yes.. My wife has observed the same, especially the rear seats, wherein the tailbone does hurt within an hour of drive if not lesser

Better wait for the electronics to sort out before anyone decides to take the Mahindra EV plunge.
That escalated very quickly. Imagine that was an ICE car and for some reason they had to pullout the battery or perform some maintenance work before it's ready for test drives again. Please test drive it once after booking an appointment and then share your experience. I did one and was blown away by the experience it has to offer. Anyone who wants to play safe - go for toyota, feeling adventurous - nothing beats XEV atleast for now.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

My car came home yesterday and I drove it for 15 km and things seem to be ok. The only explanation I've got so far is "software issue tha, naya update daala hai".
I've no idea what should i make of it.

While I’ve heard that the tariff per unit is 5rs. Are there other charges like fixed charges, FPPCA, P&G surcharge and GST.
If so, the cost difference between a regular 3phase connection and this would be negligible since the regular connection tariff is 5.8Rs.
It’s all the other adding that make it close to 8

If someone has taken the LT6C connection I’d love to see the total breakup and a bill copy if possible
Not BESCOM but mescom bill. But I guess the bill amount will be the same.

It’s almost working out to 7.5rs per unit. Might
as well upgrade the existing one to 10kw

Did they not update the software last time they changed the battery? Before my battery change / software update my xev was draining 1% standing idle every night and DID was staying on always. Now there is no drain at all and DID turns off after 2-3 mins of locking car. I am assuming that is what was causing LV battery drain (LV was powering the DID and main battery kept recharging the LV)?

They did, it was on the latest software then. And this new version has only come out a few days back. If it were truly a software issue, shouldn't more people also face it?

Did face and reported earlier on this thread, at least mine fixed with changing random settings and some Me4U app usage. Someone else too got fixed at the service center without any hardware change (or software update).

I can also confirm, post this issue and a couple of initial charge cycles, I lose 0% battery per day, I've tried upto 3 days, no battery %age lost.

Can you elaborate on what settings you changed and also the ME4U app usage? I took my XEV for a ppf and the first thing they asked me "have you got the starter battery checked" - apparently they had 2 XEV starter battery die on them while standing in their shop.

Here are a few things I did (disclaimer: it didn't work for others, so I call it random)
- Factory reset (individually didn't help)
- Turned off keyfob and phone parking
- Turned off automatic lock unlock on approach and departure (the feature anyways doesn't work)
- Moved the car to Neutral before pressing the P button (because my app was showing 'R')
- Press the boot lid while closing, so that it closes tight! (just in case!)

Me4U app
- Lock and unlock the car using the app (this was probably the last thing that I did, when the car fixed itself after a few hours. but not immediately)
- Logged out from the App and even re-installed.
- Turned off smart watch - This issue had resurfaced for me, and it came out to be the smart watch app not closed properly.

As I said - random things, some make sense, others don't and I don't know what really helped.

Hi SLK, I am optimistic about the future of Mahindra EVs, especially given their substantial investment in EV manufacturing facilities.

What are your thoughts on the long-term prospects of the XUV 9e, particularly considering its design? Also what level of efficiency do you expect from the XUV 9e, given that it is a relatively heavy SUV?

I am still open to owning an EV despite not having access to a dedicated charging setup in my parking lot.

Do you think the XUV 9e with the 59kWh Pack 2 can realistically deliver a range of 380–390 km (from 100% to 15%) under regular city driving conditions? I understand that the kerb weight of the 59kWh variant will still exceed 2000 kg.

For me, the DID stays on in two cases -

1. When the car is charging
2. Or when the Me4U app is connected (the green online dot)

For the Me4U app, when it is connected, put the app in the background (and ensure no remote operations are running), and leave it in the background for some time.

After 10-15 minutes, the green dot would turn into a refresh icon, meaning that the car has disconnected. At this point in time, the DID should turn off.

Hi Folks, How much have you guys run with the MRF's so far & how has the experience been? Or, have you replaced them?

So, I do not agree with all this funda. Totally irresponsible on the part of MM, to not replace these by doing a mandatory recall!!
Absolutely on POINT.
I had a starting issue with my Thar 2021.
They couldn't fix it. They replaced the engine harness and the IP harness (firewall to the tail light, one mass cable bundle). NO DICE.

Threw out about 5 lakhs worth of accessories.
And tried to spin it around. Never refunded my extended warranty (cause dealers look bad, right, 'KONCEPT'?)

Alas, I had to let the car go. Great loss to the wallet and the heart.

That's life with a modern Mahindra. Make you peace with it.
The Scorpio-N has been more forgiving.

Why did I suffer this ordeal?
Cause you CANNOT put a monetary figure on SAFETY. And Mahindra's classification of 'urgent' and 'on-demand/failure' recalls is absolutely opaque.

Try the official website -> Even an urgent recall is never listed.
Someone has a strong lobby. Not my first Mahindra, and not my last. But sure as anyone, I will not be a year 1 buyer ever again.
