Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

My dad has a 9E. it was at 79% when I drove it.
Onward journey
25km 7.4km/KWh
Return journey
25km 8.7km/KWh

Based on this approx 7.9% was used, but the car shows 70% now. If this a rounding off issue or is the battery being used elsewhere which ecosense doesnt capture?

In my experience too the economy shown on the DID and Ecosense is optimistic by 10% or more... and even more if you span across multiple days and restarts.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hello Team-BHP!

Although have been following the forum since last many years, finally signed up to share my experience.

Finally went with XEV 9E (delivery tomorrow) after going through countless videos, reviews and every single post in this forum.

Here is buying experience -

1. Booked the vehicle (pack 3 / stealth black) from Somya Vehicles Indore on 21st May, initial wait time quoted was 2 months although mentioned that they would deliver it in a month timeframe.
2. I insisted for a no-charger variant as I have DC fast charger just outside my society and a 3.3 KW charger is more than sufficient for long charge in my gated society. There was no resistance.
3. Had to follow-up every 2-3 days to get the status, they initially mentioned we will create a booking WA group where we will share each and every update. Tried to follow up there, but never received a response. But the SA was at least trying to convince that he will get a vehicle allocated soon.
4. In one more follow-up call by 27th May, he suggested he can provide a desert myst colour faster as one is available in plant. The color has been one of the two which we were desiring, it has to be either black or desert myst. But then we made up our mind to stick with Stealth Black only.
5. Received a call on Saturday 31st May, that they have a vehicle in plant that they can allocate but they would want full payment. Kind of weird request. I also had mentioned in past that I will go with finance option. He insisted if I can give a downpayment by EOD today they would allot the vehicle.
6. I consulted few people, it probably was to close their sales target for the May month or something. But again I decided against doing anything in this hurry. I did mention I can plan for downpayment by Monday but then he mentioned ok no need, I will look for a different vehicle.
7. I started the loan process from Monday to at least get it sanctioned.
8. I followed up again on 5th, if there has been any movement, sales person mentioned he is expecting a vehicle today night but it is with 11KW charger, he is trying to see if he can get the charger removed, later denied that it might not be possible as both are part of same SKU.
9. This time I gave up to temptation to get the vehicle as soon as possible, I processed the downpayment for with charger model. He committed to get the car ready for delivery in 24 hrs once loan amount is disbursed.
10. The dealership got the DO (delivery order) from the bank last night, although I didn't request them to prepare everything for delivery as was not confident that banks can be this fast.
11. Finally today did the inspection, tried to follow PDI checklist from this thread, everything looked good. Opted for some accessories, 7D mat, front sun blinds, mud guards, side-step and ceramic coating (quoted at 28k) from dealership itself.

Looking forward to delivery tomorrow. The car comes with latest software update with Apple Carplay. Hoping to not get any major issues. Still feels like taking a big bet!

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Test drove 9e although i liked almost everything about the car but the 'SUSPENSION'.
Isn't it just too bouncy on uneven roads?
Just went over a bridge around 60kmph & boy the car was literally bouncing like a crazy ball.

Currently i am driving CURVV & it's suspension is literally top class when compared with 9e.
Did others also experienced the same?

Try a different vehicle, the demo unit might have some issues. I had a similar experience during my test drive.

Update to this issue. After I got the Junction box installed (costed 14k including installation), the Charger team came in the next day with the replacement charger. Tagging along was a member from VVDN technologies (they design and manufacture the chargers for Mahindra) to evaluate the fault issue and take evidence including photos of meter readings before the replacement. They did a battery of checks (pun intended) on the Voltage from the MCB, charger and the Charging gun. Replacement took 15 mins and they did the readings again along with photos of the meter readings of each component post the replacement. Apparently the person was sent from Gurgaon to Mumbai specifically to investigate the core issue by analysing what caused the gun to malfunction and provide improvements. It's good to see that Mahindra and it's partners are taking it that seriously.

They mentioned that they are currently testing the bluetooth/WiFi functionality of the charger and that should also be out with an update soon.

The new charger has a CHARGE.IN logo on it which was missing with the older one. I am assuming there would be some difference in the hardware and corrections as well, but no way to tell. Hopefully, the new charger lasts the lifetime of this car and I don't face any further struggle.

In Pics:
1. The Junction box installed to help waterproof the charger given that it is completely outdoor. Has 2 locks (Top and bottom) but feels safer now.
2. The older charger fixed in the box.
3. The replaced charger.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Issue found: when there is a power cut during charge with 11kv charger it won’t start charging after power is up. Is there any solution to fix this? Usually we charge during night times and most of the times won’t be able to re initiate charging manually.
Tried with App in My vehicle-controls-charging off option but it is giving error. Though able to stop charging with App not able to start charging. Is there any alternate solution?

79kWh is the total capacity of the battery. In real use however, some of the capacity at both the top and the bottom is not used and kept as a buffer to improve battery SOH and prevent deep discharge. So the actual usable battery capacity might around 74-75kWh for Mahindra EVs (there is no way to tell how much capacity mahindra have left as the buffer). Using the usable capacity as the, the usage comes to around 8.5% which might have been rounded off to show 70% at the end.

Make sense. Thanks for the information!

Faced the exact same issue, and connected with the Mahindra Charging Support Team to figure it out.

Apparently, you cannot remotely initiate charging from the Me4U app, you can only stop it.

But these chargers have a trick up their sleeve know as Auto Trip which is not visible in the home charger section of the app.

For this, you have to connect with the team (for this, just create a ticket from the app, and check the authorised to call check box, they will call you), explain your issue, and they will enable the Auto Trip functionality from the backend.

Also for auto Trip to work, auto start charging must also be enabled (this can either be done by you from the app, or the support team will enable this also).

Very neat setup I must say! I think all owners with chargers in the open should go with this. Tata provides a similar kind Legrand box with their 3.3 kW charger. Apart from rain, it also provides some kind of dust protection as well.

So was the charger replaced under warranty or you had to pay for the replacement?

Replaced under warranty. Initially they did say i might have to pay service charges or something which i upfront refused and they got back to me that it will be a free replacement. The point of contact had to do a lot of back and forth internally with Mahindra teams to get that for me though.

Thanks for sharing.

At this rate of ~4K per month, they may take another 3-4 months to just complete delivery of pack 3 bookings done in Feb; looks like Mahindra underestimated the complexity of EV and overcommitted. Anyway, it’s better to be late and give good product rather than delivering product with too many niggles.
