I have tried Kylaq and BE6 in last few days and I have exact opposite view. Even with less thigh support I felt the seats were comfortable enough when I relax my feet below the front seat in my driving position in BE6 but kylaq felt very cramped. My sister has venue and it has pretty less knee room as well.

Are there any extra costs for satin finish over gloss metallic?

REAR SEAT EXPERIENCE OF THE MAHINDRA BE 6

These are the observations I made after sitting in the rear seat for 50 km:
1) The head space is more than sufficient, I am 6’1 and I was comfortable and there was plenty of headroom left.
2) Knee room is ample, but the raised floor due to the battery results in a higher knee position.
3) There are two charging ports one on each front seat, the AC ports are located between the seats and its a CHILLER!
4) The fixed glass roof looks stunning and extends across the entire cabin.
5) However, there is no recline or incline adjustments in the rear seat.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Took another drive with the BE6 for around a full hour in BLR traffic. Got to experience a lot of the features and got a lot of clarity on a bunch of things.

Here's my first drive review for context: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/elect...ml#post5912346 (Mahindra BE 6 Review)

Adding stuff from before:

The driving experience
  • As mentioned before, the driving modes really make a big difference. For heavy traffic like Bengaluru, range mode in city traffic feels the most natural. Everyday mode for light traffic and race mode should only be used on open road. In city using it was scary, and the sales rep confirmed that's the cause for so many minor accidents.
  • The car I was driving was banged up from front with a headlight coming out, and the car was fully functional. So for minor fender benders don't worry that the car will shut off. For major accidents not sure, but I guess you'll prefer to flatbed it anyway
  • The radars are kinda useful, and especially the vibrations on steering wheel while blind spot is active. If you give indicator, it warns you about traffic from that side. I didn't think 360 cam will be this useful with ADAS, but now I think pack 3 has real value over pack 2 with the fancier ADAS tech.
  • Regen is tuned okay. Level 1 feels very natural and there's some extra regen when you press brake too. Level 2 is also very usable in city but with a bit of learning curve. Level 3 I found to be a bit jarring.

Features
  • The HUD is very useful. Mahindra has done some software magic here. It integrates with ADAS system and shows blind view monitors, close vehicles. What's more impressive is that it integrates with both the inbuilt maps as well as android auto. Couldn't test carplay as rep said it was disabled in this version of software and will be enabled in next. But this should work with that too.
  • As you know, lots of other features. ADAS works rather well, screens are very crisp, UI is about the same or slightly better than BYD. But worse than Tesla we drove abroad.

Room
  • This time paid a lot more attention to the room and seats. The front seats are very very good. The support is good, it's powered, both front seats are ventilated, and there's lumbar support for driver. I felt absolutely no discomfort for one hour. Also about height adjust, even at the highest position I had about 4-5 inches of headroom (I'm 5'10")
  • The front seat seating is more hatchback like than SUV like. If you want to see the bonnet properly like a Scorpio, this isn't the ideal car. The XEV 9E shows the bonnet much better.
  • Rear seat room is pretty decent. I had a good bit of legroom and it's closer to your Creta/Seltos in terms of comfort than a sub-4m car. So I maintain that.
  • Boot is actually much bigger than I thought it is. Pics attached below. I took one full size cabin bag (can fit 25 kg, around 100L) and one check in bag. These are the max my i10 nios could accommodate, else I planned to take a medium size bag as well. The BE took them all easily, and could fit one more set of bags. So this is a big enough boot even for a large family vacation. Frunk is extra and there's 60:40 split for extra room. You can move the parcel shelf up by a couple inches or remove that to unlock a lot of room which the pics will show, and still maintain good visibility. If you pack till the roof the space is humongous.

Attaching pics of boot and my legroom(the legroom feels better than it looks from this angle, but I guess I didn't think much before clicking this):

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Here are some blistering first impressions of my 45 minute interaction with the Mahindra BE 6 today.

I am a bit adrenaline filled after the drive hence do forgive the relative incoherence.

When I reached home today, I got a call saying the Sireesh guys were in my vicinity and upon my confirmation, they were good enough to come to my place and give me a doorstep test drive.

The vehicle is really something else!

I first sat in the back with their executive driving. Because I was concerned about rear headroom.
But Im glad to report plainly that my fears were unfounded - there is no problem with headroom at the rear and at the front despite my 6ft 2 inches height. Yes at rear maybe there is 3/4th inch between the top of my head and the roofline.

The Rear seat under thigh support though, is definitely lacking. Needs 3 inches more on the squab for sure. Front seats too, if they had increased under thigh support by just 2 inches it would have been heaven. But the support given by the seats is very good. I found them really comfortable and snug. Excellent for long distances. Lower back and shoulder support too seems adequate. I found the headrests cool and functional for my height.

The vehicle offers plenty of legroom and one is very relaxed driving it. Driving comfort is further enhanced with the tilt and telescopic steering adjust which makes it just right.

Its a very good looking vehicle when viewed in person. Performance is really very good. Rear wheel drive so no torque steer. Excellent power delivery. Frankly the performance in ‘Everyday’ mode is more than adequate for normal folks.

The regen feels nice but is not as aggressive as in my Kona. Yes the Kona’s Torque from the get go is way more. That is absolutely clear the moment one presses the accelerator. But this BE6 is impressive all the same.

Looks like the range is very worthy at 580kms. (Real world maybe 500) Can do Bangalore Madurai on one charge I think, which says a lot.

Ground clearance at approx 200mm is more than adequate for India. The giant 19 inch wheels make it look a bit ‘Hotwheels’. There is an option to go 20 inches too! Big 245 size tyres with tall sidewalls make the wheel wells look very well filled indeed.

Ride and handling are excellent. Takes curves fearlessly. Chassis tuning is really good - dare I invoke the hallowed name of ‘Lotus’?

It eats the Bangalore bumps and sharp speed breakers with aplomb. Suspension tuning is really good.

Yes it’s a bit wide and large for our narrow streets and crowded areas. But if one can drive an MG Windsor, then one can drive this one too. I think it may eat the tyres up rather quickly because the natural tendency in this car is to ‘send it’ across all sorts of surfaces. But incidentally I didn't ‘chirrup’ the rear tyres despite stomping on the throttle a bit.

Braking effect is linear and well controlled. ABS kicks in quick. Pedal firmness is comforting. No sponginess.
Be a bit careful around these city streets and parking lots because the A Pillar is real thick. So it’s a good idea to turn on the 360 degree camera always. I personally don’t like the heads up display on the windscreen so I prefer to switch it off.

Inside design may be polarising. I personally liked the cockpit styling inside. I rather like the separator from the passenger.

But leaving aside the disco lighting gimmickry which I wont comment about, the sound system is wonderful. I was blasting some lovely Blues music and the audio effect is immersive! There are 2 screens and while on the move the driver and the passenger cannot watch things like videos and all. (Thank Heaven!)

The XEV9 on the other hand has three screens and the left most one in front of the passenger allows videos etc but is blacked out from the drivers view. (This is what the executive said)

There is a lot of piano black inside and many shiny surfaces which show fingerprints.

The seat upholstery is of a sufficiently dark colour to reduce the dirt but it does show up on the test car all the same.

The pull tabs on the doors are a cool touch. The centre console is a cool thing. The steering control wheel is a bit like a plane. Very cool. Feels soft but also feels a little flimsy for some reason. There is definitely a ‘quality’ tactile feel to all the switchgear like indicators and all. On the test car there was no ‘play’ in the centre joystick - I had watched the MotorInc Video in which they commented about that but didnt experience it myself. The central circular control knob felt a bit plasticky though. Not as premium as BYD for example. The AC is adequately comfortable. The big moon roof gives one an impression of space and airiness. The boot is very large. With the rear seats folded down full one can literally sleep inside! One can carry 3 golf bags lying flat, horizontally placed.

While there was a little concern about the piano black on the outside, I think after some time one simply wont care.

The auto park facility is really very impressive as is the remote controlled forward and rearward drive movement. This will work when the person is within 4 feet of the car I believe so one can walk alongside while remote controlling the car! I made the executive demonstrate these two features for me - the auto park when I was sitting inside with him and the remote controlled movement when both he and I were standing outside the car.

This is actually a great value Sports Coupe SUV for anyone who likes a high performance, great handling, good looking and eye-catching vehicle which also has solid range and is well priced to boot.

As many have said it is like a concept car come to life. And its price is at 32 lacs, a pretty decent deal.

There may be some initial niggles and all. And there is the question of servicing and service centre competence. But I think all of this will settle over the next 12 to 18 months.

Mahindra has hit this one also straight out of the park, yet again.

My Kona looks and feels nice and I love it, but the BE6 is very tempting indeed. I think this is a very worthy car and deserves active consideration from anyone who is actively in the market at the moment.

Had I not bought my Kona last year, I’d certainly have considered this car. And as Tushar the big built gent from ZigWheels himself says he ‘can live with it’, I too can very easily do so, were I in the market.

In my considered view this is a good looking and practical colour. It wont show scratches, dirt and muck. It looks to me very attractive, a sort of a rich matte gold. Like a glowing kind of wet beach sand by the shoreline. I like it.

The car I tested today came from Sireesh Auto Bommanahalli. You can call this gentleman Jashwanth Raj. +91 90804 40373. He will be of help. A very decent guy.

Desert myst as well as orange are also available at Mahindra India Garage in Mahadevpura. That's where I took my test drive in.

I think desert myst is a nice looking colour, but I think the black and the green ones look more stealthy. Still not sure of which colour to book.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

This may not be the best thread to ask this question. But asking it here anyway, as the thought came to me when I was going through this.

I see a lot of people from Bangalore, interested in the Mahindra EVs(rightly so). How are you planning to charge this car on a daily basis ? I am assuming most of you will be living in apartments. In my experience so far, all the gated communities have a couple of dedicated charging slots by some providers. But, I haven't seen them allowing chargers to be installed in individual parking spaces connected to the home lines(I had seen a few discussions going sour in owners' group of your typical brigade, sobha, prestige kind of flats). Isn't this inconvenient as you have to wait for these general use slots to become free to charge the car? Or Is the plan to charge from the public EV stations ?

I know that most offices also have EV charging facilities, but as the adoption goes up, I am sure these will also get congested.

Any comments on the above from people staying in such gated communities would be greatly appreciated. As this is one of the main things that is keeping me from taking the plunge

I own an apartment in a gated society in a tier 2 builder(bought it because it's very close to my office and metro). The builder and association is cool with mostly everything as long as it's legal. We don't have a dedicated charger in society yet, but we're all allowed to install charger in our dedicated parking, and some EV owners have already done so.

Heck, we even did extensive modifications in our house (broke some walls, constructed some new ones, changed the flooring, electrical fittings) and as long as we didn't touch the load bearing walls the builder was cool with it.

If what you're saying is true about tier 1 builder flats, I think I'll never consider them in future when I upgrade, and will go for a gated plot and do my own construction

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Premium builders like Total environment provides dedicated EV charging point in ones personal parking with customisation cost. In one of my earlier apartment complex, EV charging points was allowed in personal parking space. I think for all future apartment complex, this will be given by builder as a standard amenities.

EV infrastructure in Bangalore in general will only grow from now on. Office spaces providing them, shopping mall providing them, all petrol bunks having them...apartment complex installing them etc

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Got a call from the Bangalore indiranagr showroom where I had put my pre-booking for the Be6 saying that Mahindra has restricted the dealerships from registering the vehicles anywhere outside of Bangalore and other district buyers must wait. The reasoning given by my SA was that Mahindra doesn't want any service issues to arise before developing and deploying the charging network. I find this absurd. End of the day if im willing to pay, they should be willing to sell. If I have taken the effort to travel to Bangalore from 300kms away and book, why shouldn't I be able to get the vehicle when available. I was told i may have to wait 3 to 6 months if I want to get a KA12 registration.

Ive made my inte tion clear saying I will not wait and that if Mahindra isn't willing to sell, I will take my business to a different brand or dealership that is willing. Im sure my options are plenty at 33 lakhs budget.

Anyway, the dealership head has requested 2 days to get back to me and resolve this. In the meantime anyone else face any similar issues?

I also suspect that this is only the dealership throwing tantrums.
