Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Checked 6E at showroom today, could not test drive.

1) The ingress and egress is fine for both rows of seats, compared to 9E which has horrible ingress to front row seats.
2) Headroom is limited for my height of 5'.10". My hair almost touching the roof fabric.
3) Should be careful with fingers while lifting the frunk, we should hold only at edges.
4) The driver seat moved nicely to the back as soon as I opened the door.
5) The boot loading lip is too high.
6) The legs are slightly in up position compared to 9E or XUV700.

I would prefer 6E over 9E, just because of the ingress to driver seat.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Checked the 9e and the 6 today at Sireesh Auto in Bangalore near Silk Board.

Of course, the 9e is the more plush one, but the 6e felt way better in the driver's seat. It connected more with me.

But Mahindra really needs to work on customer support and service. This was my second time in the Mahindra Showroom in three years, and it's still a sad state of affairs.

The SR appointed to me invited us to the showroom. I got there an hour later, and voila, he had left for the day, and the car was back in their godown rather than in the showroom. No one was there to help, and when asked, the staff was clueless.

The EV staff is a dedicated team, and they close at 6 p.m., whereas the showroom is open until 8 p.m.

Finally was able to check the car, 9e keys were missing. Be 6, the other SR was polite to take me to a car he was taking for a TD. I could check the car for a few minutes but this needs work.

Mahindra has excellent products but if they don't up their showroom experience I am afraid people would still prefer foreign brands.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Booked a BE6 for myself.

Pack 3, 11kW charger option.

No delivery times as of yet, but the Mahindra guys did sent a person to conduct a charging point survey.

I already have a 3 phase supply, so the gave me the options of either upgrading my existing connection to a higher load rating of 11kW+ , or get something called a "green meter" introduced specifically for EV charging points. Apparently it gives a lower rate of usage.

I am considering the options, but will likely go for the green meter. Makes more sense. Thankfully my parking slot is right next to the meter box, so wiring should not be much of a hassle.

Friends, I booked it online. If I edit the variant or color, will the booking be pushed back the queue or stay as it is ?

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

It's time MG play catch up by offering a larger batter pack with Windsor. Else with the measly 39 KW battery, Windsor will be dead considering what Mahindra twins are offering. Even Nexon and Currv have larger capacity battery packs.

Mahindra has been consistently hitting the ball out of park everytime with New launches. There is no doubt that M&M would be the second largest car manufacturer in terms of volumes in Indian market in the next few months. And they could even overtake Maruti sometime in early future in value terms considering the average rate per car that Mahindra sells is almost double that of Maruti.

The only thing holding me back from making a booking is the niggles in initial batches of Mahindra cars.

I don't think you have an option to edit your booking. I didn't see any option online to do changes for the booking.
And even SA told that we cannot change the choices after official booking. You might have to cancel and book freshly again or talk to dealer to make an exception and give you your choice car of ours cancel theirs .

Your options to the best of my knowledge, since I've booked three.

1. Via the dealer - you cannot make changes. I feel this is very strange. What's the point of going via dealers anymore, then? It's not like they offer price lock-in (if anyone remembers my 7OO fiasco of them not honoring what they signed and stamped on paper when taking my money =))

2. Online - you can edit the variant. However, the risk of delivery dates being shuffled around - yours to balance against very early batches. I'd edit the variant *just to get to the back of the queue* since I don't want delivery in the next 3 odd months.

3. Or like me, book another variant (and/or color) and wait and watch. There is 0 word of cancellation here. It helps MnM with unabashed booking trigger happiness and thereby somewhat inflated booking news. It helps customers also navigate such uncertainties. Let me elaborate - in my case, Chandigarh and NOIDA both offer 0 RTO road tax. However, this can change overnight. So I'll just get the right variant from the right location. Easy enough, and while it locks up some capital, it wasn't doing much in my saving account either.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Well done, Mahindra.

Easy to see the appeal of these cars - sportscar-levels of performance + tech that's at least 2 segments ahead at great prices.

That being said, I'm not sure our roads, pedestrians and general driving public are ready for this.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

This is just of out curiosity, has anyone seen the "bring your own device (BYOD)" slot on the back seat put to use at any of the dealers? Do they require any additional attachments?
I was simply looking at the website and happened to see the company has photo on this on the carousel but I don't see any content on it about this other than the website itself.

Also, do we have any idea on what carpets/floor mats the car might come with? anyone has any photo of the inside?

On Saturday afternoon, my booking was visible on the website, but it showed that payment had failed. I called the sales advisor, who said that the payment would be made when the cheque cleared on Monday. Now, I am wondering about the purpose of pre-booking if the payment will be made on Monday, meaning my booking will be for Monday, not Friday. but the sales advisor said that my booking had already been done and I didn't have to be worried and I would get the car in March.

I had the same thing happen to me but on the same day. My status was shown as Booked on 14th at 9:25ish in the morning. I am assuming the dealer punched in the order earlier but I only checked at 9.25ish. Then it quickly changed to payment failed and I followed up with my SA who gave me the same assurance saying booking done with dealers can ignore that as the dealer will update payment later (I had paid via UPI to the dealer instead of a cheque.) Later when I check at 9.45ish, it was back to booked status with no issues. So I'd say you need not worry, as the dealer would have reserved your slot mostly.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

To pull this car off is an incredible feat. I think Indian automobiles are entering their golden age. I'm sure that the Germans, Koreans and the Japanese will find it difficult to keep pace.

I haven't test-driven one yet, but:

1. The car is very photogenic but looks a bit disproportionate on-road.
2. I saw a car up close and the quality of plastics on the exterior seem not up to the mark, also the paint finish/ quality is not as great as the XUV 7OO. Does anyone else feel the same?
3. A bit more thought could've gone into the design of the door interiors. To pull off such a great cabin is no mean feat of engineering though.
4. The tech and mechanics (suspension & power especially) at this price point are unbelievable. The rims, the suspension, the handling and whatnot should ideally belong to a car that is at least 3x the price.
5. With it's BNCAP safety ratings, the German cars can't just sell on snob value anymore.

All in all, kudos to Mahindra!

For Bangalore Folks, PPS Motors Hosur Road also has a Desert Myst BE6, and both Red & White XEV9Es. They are offering TDs mostly in their showroom.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Apparently the demand for pre-owned luxury cars has stagnated in Dubai, because buyers are being tempted away by jazzy Chinese EVs. Maybe something similar will start to unfold here because of these cars.

And doubtless there are many more to come. For example, there is the whole genre of very butch and boxy EV SUVs that is all the rage in China. Now that is right up Mahindra’s street.

But people do like a car to be both sporty and chic. On the first count, I’m hoping this car will get the full treatment from a skilled reviewer and we will learn how it stacks up against international EV darlings like the Renault/Alpine 5 and the Ioniq 5/5N. On the subject of chic, we will sadly have to wait for a European manufacturer to offer up something tasty. And if that never happens, we will have this amusing surprise package, our own ‘Hotwheels’ as Mr Balan puts it.

A Rivian R1S had a minor scuff with a parking structure pillar and got itself bricked. Pretty much like this BE 6.

Guess it is just the way the sensors interpret minor impact and confuse the way emergency situations are treated by on-board computers.
