The XEV9 is a big fella. More suited for family travels despite its power and handling. Suitable if you want a vehicle to transport your family comfortably and capably.
I am going to be driving solo mostly and am going to be the sole occupant 90% of the times. Also I like good handlers. For reference, I drive A4 sometimes and recently drove the mini cooper S 2024 model who’s handling I loved.

But I couldn’t understand the driving position in BE 6 as it feels as low as a sedan. 9E gives somewhat a proper SUV driving position though its not as high as a Thar. Also BE 6 gives the same sense of space as my first gen Creta. I can’t make up my mind which one to get as I like the proportions, size, seat height of 9E better but I also care about better handling and the extra 4L.

For your use case it is the Be6 without a doubt.
I too love sports cars. And I drive a Mini Cooper S.

The Be6 is the best of both worlds.
Sharp handling.
Brilliantly tuned chassis.
Excellent ride comfort.
Explosive power.
The perfect coupe SUV.

Honestly you can attack any curve fearlessly. And it is very tempting when driving this car, to get carried away by its power and capability.

Think of it in a way as a desi Lambo Urus or Aston DBX.

If I were to have to choose between the XEV9 and the Be6 it will be an absolute no brainer. Be6 is exactly up my street.

Didn’t wanna write it here but i kinda like the road presence of 9E and its more imposing too. Most people say that big cars are bad or tough to drive in our congested metropolitan cities but I beg to differ as I feel its easier to drive big cars as people either don’t get in your way or give way to you. Thus even more confusion.

I especially mentioned the Cooper S as I know you have one. I drove both the Cooper S and the countryman electric yesterday and both Minis are cars which one can like only after experiencing them. They’re very fun to drive and the Cooper S sounds amazing in the go kart mode. But they’re priced way too high and miss out on a lot of kit commonly available even in budget cars now.

Mine is a nearly 13 year old Cooper S done 70,000kms. That era was totally different in the world of Mini.

In ref Be6 and XEV - most definitely you should go with what your heart or instinct says.

I will place a few photos here just as a comparo.
Honestly, their radical styling ensures that both are head-turners.

I have driven to Ladakh in EV max. Charging was mostly free in Ladakh. Srinagar to Srinagar I paid only 650. No issues with power or torque even at Khardungla top.

If planned well, range anxiety is not an issue.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

I was interested BE 6 seeing all the hype and wanted to TD it before booking one. What a terrible experience it turned out with Mahindra dealer, Sireesh Auto, Rajajinagar, Bengaluru. They made me wait 20 minutes, took a copy of my DL (standard practice, no problem) and demanded that I sign a copy of declaration stating that I would solely be responsible for all damages caused during the test drive. I have not come across such declaration in other dealerships and refused to sign it stating that the car insurance is wholly for this unfortunate event. The rep kept insisting in a rude tone that it was company policy and everyone signed it. I said my personal policy does not permit it and walked out. No communications subsequently after that.

Earlier, I had requested the same dealership for XUV 3X0 TD which they promised to provide at home and never got back. With such a bad attitude in a competitive space, Mahindra is risking a lot with arrogant disinterested dealers and do not understand quality and finesse to cater to a premium segment such as BE range.

Received a call from SA offering me to get early allocation if I am okay to buy 11 kw. Inflated insurance, mandatory accessories and now this - all this is just leading to a poor buying experience

I had the same conversation with a mahindra dealer in kanakapura road, but this time for the phone number AND an OTP for it.

In days when sharing ones number willy nilly just invites more spam and scams, I said I cannot give my number.

Sales people just kept saying its company policy that this. I walked out saying I don't want the TD, they didn't care for it. They had multiple more lined up.

Same in your case too, people who stand up against unfair practices are few and far between.

Since there are a lack of photos for the stealth black version(which I've booked), got some pics from my SA about real world images of the BE6 in black color. Attaching the pics:

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

I was wondering about this since I saw the cars in person multiple times.

Both 9E and BE6 have exact same width. I opened doors of both cars side by side and the door thickness is same as well.

Other than the seat of BE6 being smaller compared to 9E in thigh support, the width should be able to accomodate 3 persons comfortably like in 9E but BE6 feels a little cramped and just about enough for 3 and 9E feels comfortable for 3 passengers. Why?

I booked BE6 because it's good enough for 4 persons and that's my regular requirement as well, but I'm worried about rear seat space for the occasions where I need to seat 5 members and I'm wondering why the difference? Is it just because of thigh support and more knee room?

So if you do need to go to a petrol pump to top it up, I presume the pump would have a 16A plug point to which you can anyway connect the portable charger and charge it at 3.3 kW.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly intrigued at this idea, but want to understand if it's really worth the effort and how much of practical range would it add.
1. 1.8KW. About 4 hours of juice. Has an eco mode. Including some losses, I imagine, 6.4KWH ~ about 45 kms in a pinch. If one carries a little extra fuel, even better. I'm particularly looking at the 9E for a sleep-in-camping situation. This is where this setup may excel.

2. 16A at a pump makes sense provided there's no one else slow charging there, plus it can be a way off. Beats the mobility angle..

3. I have a 20L jerry can. Per the calc above I'm looking at 200 kms of range easy. Perhaps 150 in the hills. Alternatively, I sit on my scorpio N for 4x4 duty.

4. Love his videos. There's no V2L. Wrote to MnM and received confirmation. No V2V either. At best they'll throw in a 12V square wave 150W inverter. That's no good. I'd rather the ecoflow even as an inverter.

This somehow looks significantly better than the rest of the colour options. Might be because the thick piano black cladding blends into the body.

Yes, that was the main reason for me to go with the black car. I generally don't like claddings and the seamless blend looks a lot better to my eyes.

The downside is that now the whole car is glossy black and will require more maintenance. I'm in BLR and for cleaning we use the regular society cleaners who are very heavy handed and usually clean with dry cloth, leaving a lot of swirl marks. The dust is too much and daily/every other day cleaning is required which honestly I don't think is feasible for me to do.

I'm thinking that maybe at least for this color a PPF might not be a bad option, but still not sure as PPF is usually recommended for much more expensive cars. I haven't had good experience with ceramic coating as with our cleaners it doesn't last long.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Finally tested the Be6 in Sireesh Auto, Silk board dealer. I wanted to test drive both but unfortunately xeV 9 wasn't available.

Loved it :

1. The road presence. The car is big and I own a Kushaq, which coincidently was parked hardly 5m next to the Be6 and man, I could see the difference.

2. The drive. Performance is available on demand. My wife sitting in the back seat kept asking me to drive slowly and I was hardly pushing. I could only imagine how it will be on an open highway.

3. Suspension. Since the test drive car was top model, it had electronic suspension and I could feel them working on Bangalore potholes. The drive was better than I'm used to and the car felt stable even on the small highway stretch I drove on.

4. Sunroof. It's massive and it will be insane driving with the shade open at night or in the hills, which are abundant near Bangalore

5. Insulation. Both light and sound insulation is great. Also there's a slight motor whine I could hear which gave a character to the car. Outsiders can't see much inside due to the slight tint (obviously withing legal limits). I experienced this when I was myself standing outside and someone was sitting inside the Be6 in front and I had no idea.

Hated it:

1. "Cockpit". The area around the driver's seat is insanely busy. There are some sort of controls everywhere. The center console, dashboard, infotainment, steering, right of steering, door panel, under seat, sunroof area. It's just loaded and it's overwhelming. Every car obviously has controls scattered everywhere but the main ones are always in front of you. In the Be6, even common controls are scattered. Even changing HVAC settings is tedious. I couldn't change modes without looking at the screen. Finding the seat settings also took a while. Window buttons are odd as well.

2. Door handle. That strap is hideous. It's illogical and the durability is a question mark. What was wrong with a normal door handle like every single car on this planet?

3. The partition. Outside of a first time wow or what?! It serves no purpose.

4. Space. For a car that big on the outside, the inside is small. The front passenger area surprisingly felt smaller than my Kushaq. The dashboard is too big and extends towards the passenger, almost like staring you in the face. Little said about the rear the better. It's claustrophobic at the back and the underthigh support is bad as well.

5. Boot. Very shallow. I wasn't confident of fitting my wife's massive trolley bag in there. It fits comfortably in the Kushaq and I have even driven with luggage worth 5 people couple of times. Not sure if Be6 can handle that.

6. Brake by wire. Great Technology, bad implementation. The brake is too responsive and not progressive at all. Even a feather touch and everyone inside kept flying forward.

Overall, I agree it's a driver's car. But Mahindra literslly decided to show a middle finger to everyone except the driver. It felt like a rich man's second car.

I love driving and hence I bought Kushaq 3 years ago. But I also understand I won't be the solo occupant 100% of the time. My wife sits in the car may be 10% of the time but that 10% has to be comfortable for her. She may accompany me for extended duration (long trips outside Bangalore) once in 3 months but what's the point if she's going to hate every single minute of that?

I heard both the motors and controllers on BE6 and 9E are from VW ID.4 and ID.7, looking forward how these power trains perform in India.
