I know a test drive will not work out in these regions, but this would give a good idea as to how the car behaves on hills and hairpins (especially the range drop while climbing). Some of these roads are also narrow and we will get a good idea of how the car handles them.

While I have no need for it and the size makes the car overkill for a city like Bangalore (I'd have to change my house first), I'm very seriously interested in one of these. Other than the pack 3 with gimmicks costing above a perfectly made Atto 3 base variant, I find it decent value for money.

EVs are a joy to drive in Ghat sections. My Nexon EV with FWD itself is a rocket and much much better than most if not all of the Indian mass produced ICE that you can buy. So I expect Be 6e to be a beast here.

Why?
1. Low center of gravity. EVs have very low center of gravity and most of its weight in the center. This makes handling a breeze.
2. RWD, will give you much more control on the steering.
3. Zero power lag and immediate torque. Just floor it after the curve and you will feel you are driving on a downhill even while going up. During the trip back from Goa to Bangalore in the ghats, I saved almost half the time that Google was showing for the ghat section.
4. The Overtaking- No ICE- yes even the sports cars can come close to EVs in overtaking. The confidence it gives while overtaking in the ghats means you are not stuck behind Trucks while they slowly crawl up. You can overtake with high confidence as you don't have to shift gears in the middle or wait for the power to build.

Some Tips for driving EVs on Hilly terrains:
Going Up :
Remove Regen and you should throttle while on the straight and just let go while in the curve. Avoids constant need to bring the car back to the needed power as Regen will kill your power when you remove your foot from the accelerator.

Switch between modes as necessary, especially for overtaking. Use high power to overtake and then switch back to enjoy calm drive.

Get used to the driving behaviour of the car before going on the ghat as you have so much power on tap. I would suggest taking it easy till you get a hang of the car.

Going down:
Keep switching Regen up and down to maintain speed rather than your brakes. I once went the entire Shiradi Ghat with 3-4% battery usage.

That's all!
Safe driving and enjoy your new car.

You know the famous saying, for EVs it is said with a twist - Once you go EV, you never go back to ICE PV.

Finally someone who understands where to use Regen. I work in the 2W industry and there's enough data to show Regen reduces efficiency. It's only helpful if "you" manually use it to slow down rather than the car automatically using regen. You only end up wasting more energy accelerating back to your original speed compared to coasting.

In the ghats going downhill, just setup the regen to a level enough for you to maintain a certain speed without using brake or accelerator.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Hey folks
I live in Goa. There's only one dealer here. Would say it was a satisfactory experience. Got to test drive both. Booked the Be 6 pack 3 Tango Red on 14 Feb. I paid via cheque directly to dealer several days prior to 14 Feb actually. I still do not have any written/email confirmation of booking, booking ID or estimated delivery date as of 27 Feb. This part has not been handled well by Mahindra.

A few other things.
1 - they shared the cost breakup (attached) and echoing a similar pattern: they want you to take insurance from them (because its an EV and their package has necessary add ons for motor and battery)

2 - the accessories for 25k seem to be bundled and mandatory. But they are just not revealing what the 25k includes. Have asked twice. I am assuming that floor mats are included and I want them. But rest of the things, I'm not sure.

3 - They (Powerol) outsource site visit to a local corp. They have already done a visit to check location for adding wall charger and wiring required etc. The site engineer told me categorically that I have to choose either one of the two chargers - for additional 50k or 75k. This is a requirement to get the unlimited battery warranty. I had initially thought of skipping and using just 15 AMP plug to charge since I work from home, drive less and already have three other existing ICE vehicles (with me being the only driver).

4 - in my case of a three phase electricity connection, one has to take the more expensive 11kw charger since that is suited to 3 phase. Choosing the 7kw charger will mean additional wiring or jugaad according to engineer.

5 - the charger also has WiFi built in - so I assume you can control it through the app and see data (eventually). You can also lock it (nfc card) so that only you can use it (apartment or shared parking scenario). It is glossy black and scratches very easily. There are lots of strip LED lights on it (blue, green, red) to indicate status.

6 - Finally, the charger can also be downgraded, ie set to deliver a lower output like 3kw - in case you have a low sanctioned load from the electricity department and don't want to or cannot increase the sanctioned load for some reason.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Yesterday happened to be near Mahindra showroom and had some spare time so went to see BE 6 & 9e with a friend who wants to buy one.
Here are some of my observations:

1. XEV 9e looks way bigger than Be 6.

2. Be 6 is a claustrophobic is hell. When you sit in 9e white interior makes it so airy and spacious whereas black interior of 6 is really bad for sense of space. We came there by Brezza and it felt more spacious than Be 6.

3. Music system is the best in its class or may be above it's class.

4. Boot space of 9e is huge only old Octavia felt more spacious than this. Be 6 has a small boot in comparison.

5. Showrooms are not ready to even match the insurance price or remove any accessories.

6. Sales executive told that 9e has more bookings than Be 6.

7. Buying pack 1 will be very difficult as showrooms don't want to sell you those. But pack 1 are great value for money.

I wish Mahindra has pack 1 of anyone of the car available so that I would have been easier for my friend to book.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

I keep getting calls from Mahindra showrooms for my BEV booking after taking test drives. Pack3 are out of budget for me, so either Pack1 Select or Pack2 fit my budget. When I indicate interest for Pack2, the SA loose interest with my prospective booking as Pack2 is still more than 4 months away.

I see "Auto fold ORVMs" is only available from Pack3 Select.

I don't understand why Mahindra feels power folding ORVMs are used by people who buy top end variants only. There have been instances when power folding ORVM saved the ORVM from a vehicle passing close by and prevent damage to the ORVM.

I have a question. As in XUV7OO, does the memory function of the seats include the ORVM too?

Power folding ORVMs =/= auto fold ORVMs.

Auto fold ORVMs -> Automatically close when you turn off the car, automatically open up when you turn on the car

Power fold ORVMs -> Can be opened and closed with a button on the driver side door.

While pack 2 doesn't have auto fold ORVMs, I think it should have power fold ORVMs. I asked this on perplexity and it gave me this source which says even pack 1 has electrically adjustable ORVMs, which almost every car has nowadays: https://www.evfy.in/ecars/Mahindra/B...-be-6-pack-one

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

After visiting some dealerships I finally got to see Everest White Satin color in-person on BE6. The satin white has its own appeal and appealed more to me than glossy white.

Unfortunately electrically adjustable ORVM may not translate to power folding ORVM as per Mahindra's feature list. I am okay even with manual power folding ORVM and close the ORVMs manually after locking the car.

Missing power folding ORVM on a car which comes with Tilt and telescoping steering, EPB and features like BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) from Pack1 would be a glaring miss.

I saw multiple sources that they are electrically adjustable. Don’t see any reason that this feature will be missing. The only way to be 100% sure is to just wait for the car to come.

Honestly even my i10 from over 5 years ago has power ORVM, but not the auto close kind. There’s a button which can open and close them which is good enough.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Has anyone recieved the list of accessories for the Be6 from their dealerships?
I'm only interested in the floor mats, mudflaps and possibly a scuff plate if available.
The Xev9e thread has the list of accessories available (without prices ofcourse) shared by the dealership.

Nothing yet.
I'm wondering when the updates start rolling out.
The Pack3 were supposedly going to start deliveries around mid-March. March has already begun now!

Here you go.
Also March has begun, yet cars have not reached some Mahindra dealerships.

My SA from Koncept Mahindra in Gurgaon told me that deliveries will start from 10th March. They are going to deliver 45 vehicles of which 30 are BE 6 and the rest XEV 9e.
These are all the people who did booking on the first day. I did it on the second day, he told me that mine should be allocated in the next month.
