Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

Unpopular Opinion: The Curvv looks more like the Urus as compared to this new BE 6E (and the name "Curvv" is better too)

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

Great review. As always!

The indigo airline code ‘6e’ inspired car (hot wheels toy?) , should have offered a blue shade as an option

My sense is , 6e will be a slow seller just because of its relative lack of practicality. The enthusiasts and wannabe folks will buy the first ones and get the fully paid for Guinea pig experience.

9e is way more practical , if still lesser than the Xuv. Isn’t the Xuv 700 Ev also coming in?

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

If only Mahindra were to put an ICE in the be-6e and price it a bit lower accordingly it would the best enthusiast car in the market by far.

We really don't know the price of 'Variant' which has all the Wao features shown during the launch. I am skeptical if the variant for which introductory price is revealed are too relevant for the young customers which they try to allure with gizmos etc.

I am guessing the price of relevant variant of 6e would touch 25+ and OTR for the 9e would cross 30 lakhs. Moreover i heard that, the assembly plant would take few more months to get ready to assemble these gadgets.

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

I don't understand about this Lifetime warranty on the battery.
This battery never dies ?
What is the exact clause on this.

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

What is the kerb mass of the 6e & 9e? For respective battery packs.
Also has M&M shared any drag co-efficient figures? Would be interesting to know the effect, if any, of the front bonnet airflow management on Cd values, given the fact that the cars have a pretty large frontal areas.

Even older gen batteries basically shed 5% every 100k kms. Since these cars have newer gen BYD blade batteries and bigger batteries on top of it (bigger battery = less charge cycles for same distance = lower degradation), I expect lower degradation.

Mahindra's claimed life: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attac...126-193412.png

According to this, the battery will degrade to somewhere between 85 to 90% for 2000 cycles. This means that the battery will last roughly 10 lakh km and will still be at 85% charge.

If these claims are true this basically means the battery will literally outlast the car multiple times. You'll basically never have to replace it even after 20-30 years of heavy use.

Those are some tall claims by Mahindra. Real picture will be out in years down the line. I have not read much about the blade battery tech that Mahindra has used, but if the batteries are able to last charge over such long duration/charge cycles; it will suffice the use case for a lot of the users.

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

This is just the beginning. Over the next 2-3 years, we will see crazy & innovative EVs that will make every previous EV look obsolete. I think we just have to prepare ourselves to being totally surprised and blown away with every subsequent EV launch.

On the design front, I saw a picture comparing the side profiles of the Curvv EV with the BE 6e. In comparison, the Curvv EV looked so simple and outdated (already looked like a generation old). Having said this, I still prefer Tata's design language that they have used in the Nexon EV, upcoming Sierra and Safari. But then, I am the kind of fellow to prefer VW Vento design over Honda City.

BE 6e at 18.9 lakhs and the Curvv EV at 19.5 lakhs shows how fast EV prices are falling. Like the growing trends in the scooter market, after 2-3 years, I see sub 12 lakh budget car market(city cars like i10, Swift, Wagon R etc) dominated by EVs. The BYD Seagull launch will start that trend. Even with BE 6e, people will look at it and might prefer this over Creta. 500km real world range with such a feature loaded car is enough to get people to choose BE 6e over the Creta.

Personally, I am hoping such cars start a price war that brings down prices of more experienced EV players such as MG and BYD. I would prefer buying those reliable EVs at affordable costs for 85% city use. I think the JSW-MG launches in 2025 will be very interesting because they will be priced aggressively for the quality they will give. Mahindra and Tata will need more time to give niggle free products. The XEV 9e and the BE 6e will definitely have niggles and serious ones at that..just look at the complex suspension set up itself (I am not even going to go into electronics/software of these cars).

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

Did any drive review elaborate on the semi-active suspension which both cars have on offer? So far it is clear that the semi-active part is something that is controlling dampers based on road conditions. Is it something complementing the so called frequency-selective-damping that they introduced in XUV700 or replacing it? On paper, it looked like another cool tech in offer which I expected to significantly improve both ride quality at low speeds and handling at high speeds. Based on the reviews I have gone through so far, the latter part is confirmed but not the former, with an exception of the wine glass video. Unable to figure out whether this semi-active feature is really helping as expected or is just some gimmick. Please shade some light on this.

Another question is- is it active by default or can be enabled/disabled by users and has any other settings to tune it as per one's preferences?

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

It’s the first car in India with Dolby atmos and there are very few cars in the world that have support for Dolby atmos right now. My question is will it work with Apple Music on Apple car play ? The Dolby website mentions that manufacturer have to do some work on their end to support atmos through Apple car play. If it cannot then I fear that this whole thing will become a marketing gimmick.

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

PS: post #13 has some more details about it, though theoretical on paper, not from a real world review. Interestingly, "Power of choice - ride modes * mode selection based on HMI inputs" does seem to indicate that they may be providing some support for user tuning/preference. Also, the system seems to take into account a lot of factors, not just road condition.

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

This is an interesting product!
A few questions I have- whenever the top variant's price is announced, the on road price is likely to be around 30L.
This is an excellent choice for people who don't need the rear seat too much, but the vast majority of buyers in this price range do.

Curious to find out what effect this will have on the market.

Anyway, kudos Mahindra! Great product!

Re: Mahindra BE 6e Review

There are so many reviews that are targeting the non availability of physical buttons for AC. All you reviewers, please check and make this update in the review. This is not just for team-bhp but also for every reviewer out there.

This might even be educational for every driver in the new age. Yes Physical AC buttons are no longer needed, YES.

Please add Voice control of AC settings in your review, this is a big educational shift to all of the drivers who will start using voice control for AC setting instead of getting distracted to use it on the touch screen. I always voice control for calls, read out messages, teams, playing songs even in my old venue and works like jiffy. So sincere request to all the reviewers out there,

Start voice control reviews please...in this age, "Ah-Ah" seems to be better than "using fingers" Thank you for your understanding.
