For example a 50kwh NMC battery can give you 450 but the LFP might give you 400-410.

That's why we are seeing Creta regularly posting 8.5km/kw whereas Mahindra twins at 7km/kw.
Without the actual trip speeds and driving styles, it's not accurate to conclude that the Creta EV is substantially better than the Mahindra twins. If someone wants to compare the efficiency and range of different cars, they should be tested at similar speeds. Efficiency drops very quickly at higher speeds.

Kona 65.4 kWh range at different speeds:
60 km/h = 564 km at 8.62 km/kWh.
90 km/h = 461 km at 7 km/kWh.
130 km/h = 261 km at 3.98 km/kWh.

As you can see from the above numbers, range and efficiency drop very quickly as you go to higher speeds. So, always need to be compared at similar speeds. That is why we need to compare the range numbers from official testing like WLTP.

Apologies. I misread your original post as your i20 N line churns out 170bhp.

Thats not true; it's not the battery chemistry that is able to deliver more range; it's NMC being denser and lighter, coupled with possibly a very efficient motor and BMS by Hyundai that is able to deliver better results.

I agree with that as well, not saying that you're wrong. The Creta is 100km lighter than the 6e with a larger battery.

But still, LFP batteries dissipate energy faster than NMC. That's why high-performance electric cars have NMC rather than LFP.

Also at the same time, I think people shouldn't argue between LFP or NMC. I think for 10 years of car owning, these batteries are just fine and you'll never have issues.

I am waiting for Carens EV. If the interior is anything like Syros than that would be more lucrative than Creta.

I am also very happy with the range in my EV. However, I am also happy that there are so many Mahindra EVs selling. Call it fuel-solidarity, but the more success Mahindra EVs achieve, the better it would be for Creta EV owners After all, we all are going to share the same charging infrastructure.

Considering that you are in Bangalore, how much range did you extract from your Creta Electric till date?

Asking because we are planning to get one soon as the second car for city usage.

It is too early for me to say. I have only driven 200 KMs till date. But I drove those 200 KMs mostly in peak office hours traffic around Whitefield, and got around 9KM/KWH.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

Test drove the car recently and actually liked the car. But the current pricing in comparison to the fossil fuel variants and the somewhat limited leg room for 6’2 person at the rear really puts me off.
At my driving position, while sitting at the back the hard seat back and tray kept hitting my knees, maybe a fabric/soft back would have been better.

Ruled out the car primarily due to that and the fact that nothing substantial (features wise) available despite a hefty premium in price.

Thanks for sharing the details. Looks like the running cost is very low and much cheaper than petrol cars however driving into hills is regular affair for me and I am always concerned about no. of stoppages. Can you please share how much time it took you to reach Manali after you started from Faridabad at 1 AM.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

You can easily reach Manali from Delhi in 9 hours without breaks. I recently completed the Delhi-Manali trip in 9 hours (albeit in a Seltos Petrol), taking a couple of half-hour breaks. The roads are butter smooth all the way to Manali.

I was asking about the overall time including charging stops.

Overall Metrics:
Total Distance: 1338 km
Overall Energy Efficiency: 8.9 km/kWh
Brilliant metrics. You must also be a very good driver - we have never managed to get more than 6.5-7 km / kWh on the Ioniq 5 - that too only in peak (ok Bombay) winter! Otherwise we get a long term average of about 5.8 km/ kWh (measured based on units consumed by charger net of charging loss) - the display shows a long term efficiency of 15.5 kWh / 100 km or 6.45 km / kWh over 21000+ km driven so far. Of course the Ioniq is bigger, heavier and more powerful - and AC cooling load would be low in the hills - but nevertheless it is a big difference

The ZS ev too would return good range if driven at 60-70kmph. I'm sure you do be doing around 90-100 for the zs ev to return 6.5km/kw. I've clocked 1.5L kms on my zs ev and get around 6.5km/kw too. The maximum I've got is around 10km/kw when I really drove slow at around 60-70 KMPH max.
