2025 BYD Seal launched at Rs 41 lakh; Gets revised suspension & new features

Chinese EV maker BYD has launched the updated Seal electric sedan in India at Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom).

The BYD Seal gets revised suspension and new features as part of the latest update. The Premium variant is now equipped with Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD), while the Performance variant gets the DiSus-C system, which can automatically soften or firm up the suspension depending on the road conditions and driving style.

The 2025 edition of the Seal also comes with a power sunshade, an upgraded air-conditioning system that uses a larger compressor for enhanced cooling and an air purification unit. The car also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.

The BYD Seal is now powered by a new Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) low-voltage battery. It is said to be six times lighter than a conventional lead acid battery and has a 15-year lifespan.

Re: 2025 BYD Seal launched at Rs 41 lakh; Gets revised suspension & new features

Looks like they have solved the moonroof issue this time around. When I drove the Seal in Mid 2024, my No2 issue was the lack of a sunshade (came with 2 piece magnetic/click in place sunshades that you had to put up yourself). No 1 issue was low GC but that's also part of it's appeal. FSDs will definitely improve handling in sport mode/on highways/around corners.
For 60-ish OTR in Ahmedabad it's a fantastic proposition, far ahead of A4/A-limo/2GC. Would've gone for it had I not decided to buy a larger 6 seater SUV. Keeping an eye out for 2026, planning to phase out a car in favor of a long-range EV. Current EV (Nexon) gets max. 220kms on a charge.

Yes, both Premium and Performance models come with the 82.56 kWh battery pack
Dynamic trim comes with 61.44 kWh.

Beautiful sedan, wish it had a practical ground clearance.

A quick comparison of trims available;

Nice car indeed, at this price.
Low GC will be an issue, but such a car can't look good with a high GC, not to mention the huge aero-effects.

I saw a youtube reel where a Chinese EV was like, 'dancing' on the side of a Lamborghini, flexing its electronic suspension. I have no more info, but I think this could be mighty useful in India. It could be automatically programmed, like low slung at high speeds, and highest at commuting speeds, or user cofigurable/ adjustable.

Air purification is really the need of the hour for big cities at least.

But, why are they comparing with Lead-Acid batteries at all? Am I missing a point?

The low voltage batteries(12V)of EVs are usually lead acid batteries just like any ICE vehicle. Recently BYD upgraded Seal's 12V lead acid battery with a LFP battery.

If GC and sedan-suv wasn’t an issue, which one would you prefer - Seal or Sealion 7?

Saw one in person and it sure looks and feels better than the Tesla Model 3! Totally stunning sedan, backed by poor marketing from BYD. But the sedan to consider for 50-60 lakhs, along with the Hybrid Camry.

The German sedans priced above are feeling the heat thanks to the Big T and Big B below.

SEAL any day! The Lion is too heavy and isn’t sporty enough compared to Seal.

Hope these improvements in battery and adaptive suspension are passed onto the BYD Sealion SUV soon. That would be something very desirable as it would be undercutting the Kodiaq and Tiguan while being faster and more comfortable.

Re: 2025 BYD Seal launched at Rs 41 lakh; Gets revised suspension & new features

I see many responses quoting GC as the number 1 concern. A quick search reveals the GC of the Seal is 145mm. The erstwhile Octavia came with 137mm, and the 3 GL came with 135mm. While I am not saying the GC of Seal is great, it's not worse than some of the cars already plying on our roads. I am eager to hear from existing owners on this aspect of the car. I also wonder if the FSD would make a difference. But again, with EVs the GC concern has another angle to it, the batteries!

When we did drive around, the Seal scraped almost everywhere; entrance to the office courtyard, basement parking, entrance to a bylane etc.
My car being the Civic, am already used to poor ground clearance sedans, but Seal was highly impractical for daily usage.

It's a beautiful plush car. One single drive on it changed my perspective about BYD, but unfortunately, not practical, majorly due to this GC issue.

Again, not about numbers, but about practicality. Maybe the large wheelbase, the EV'ish skateboard frame etc are elevating the situation compared to the other cars
