Ajanta's battery car can no way challenge the NANO. I am sure people would prefer buying a Nano/bike over this Plastic battery car !

That looks like a Chinese version of the Smart car. Look how the wheels and the body look wrong in overall proportions. Even if they come out with this car, which will be similarly priced as the Nano, it would be difficult to penetrate the market where the Nano has earned its name by breaking all records.

This car is actually from TARA. Check out their product line - Tara International

Currently they are inviting dealership proposals. Seems like they are almost ready..

The cheaper alternatives with 2 doors will not cut ice with the indian public when they can get a 4 door car from a larger manufactuerer like TATA.

Every one is hopping on to the 1L car train, but it is easier said than done and that is evident from the Bajaj efforts, or for that matter suzuki as well.

This one seems to be a chinese copy of the MERCEDES SMART.

Remember, REVA had a very slow learning curve and took a long long time to arrive at its current position. Wondering if AJANTA can make the same long haul?

This car will challenge Nano in terms of the on-road price, but what about the average & achievable speed ??
After getting around 3-4 heavy battery packs, is it going to run faster than Nano ??
Is it going to have a better mileage i.e. around 100 kms. per charge ???

Electric cars have traditionally had a huge speed and distance limitation over the traditional vehicles, like the Reva - this continues today as well, so if one is going to get the benfit of electrics then the trade off though lesser today still exists in the form of cost of car (higher), range of car (lower) and speed (lower) that is something that the small car buyers would not be comfortable living with (see reva).

Well if a certain Herb Kelleher had listened to all the similar sounding naysayers (what do lawyers know about running airlines?), then Southwest Airlines would never have created the history it did.

The tata's also started out by selling Beer to British soldiers, and they have grown to be one of the largest automakers today apart form being involved in 100's of unrelated businesses.

Why cant Ajanta Auto fellows think big? I only hope they come up with something original rather than rehashing Chinese products.
