Pics: Zotye Electric SUV Spotted

Hi fellas,
Was on my way back home late last night with a couple of friends, when we spotted this weird looking small car near Shivaji Park. At first we assumed its a 'Executive car mod' Santro. But on observing it closely we were awestruck.

It was a new car as the Badges were covered on the front and rear. The only visible badges were 'ABS' and '1.3i'. Moreover, it was being driven quite slowly and was making a lot of noise.

We were fortunate that the car went all the way to Altamount Road. We had a small chat with the owner to find out which car it was. And guess what, it was this Chinese car called 'Zoyte'. Its an electric-motor SUV. The size was similar to the Santro...we wondered, what SUV? We really felt totally ripped.

And guess what, the owner also had a beautiful silver CLK 320 parked in his private apartment. What left us wondering was:
1) Why would someone owning a CLK, buy this cheap trash?
2) Why would he cover up the badges on the car?
3) The car was MH14 registered, which was 'part' reason to believe that maybe this car would be launched soon in India.

Here are the pics, sorry about the bad quality. Poor phonecam.

From the bumpers, cladding, wheels, spare wheel mounting etc. it seems to be inspired by the last-gen CR-V.

i cant believe my eyes ! this is the last generation Dahiatsu Terios which has now been replaced here in the UK since 2007 and is based on the new gen Toyota RAV 4. I am sure that Toyota is using this car purely for testing purposes.
Check these pics

This vehicle has proper registration (either MH-04 or MH-14) looks like an Import becasue So far I have seen test mules with temporary registration.

Front looks like as if the headlights are sourced from Fiesta, grill from the Fabia. From the side looks like a Safari, although the doors look like they been sourced from the M800, especially the front doors, and the rear looks like a bit CRVish.
Good find X- Machine.

And the rear bumper inspired from the DICOR, except that the right one also has a reverse light...

I personally Think that the back part resembles a X Trail more. See the light positioning.
Is it coming to india, if yes then when?

Small sized SUVs would be a hit in India.Anything under Rs10L is sure to have takers.
And an electric vehicle makes it all the more worthwhile.

Small cheap SUV-ish vehicles sound like a good idea. Don't know about the electric motor though. But, Chinese quality...?
Whatever happened to the Ignis?

aren't electric cars supposed to be silent? I mean electric motors whine but don't make much noise.
