Apparently :

VW employs CEO of Maggi to head the company. Releases statement saying that the intake air was already polluted, hence the high readings.

Also recommends EGR delete (coz enjoy your car while you can), says the world's air is polluted anyways.

P.S. : Guys, this is India. We couldn't penalise a noodle maker, this is an automobile giant !

Very true since the VW CEO has been requested to step down due to the scandal

and the CEO of Nestle (Maggi !) after successfully sounding righteous on the Indian media, and somehow remaining unscathed in terms of penalties (at least I am not aware if Nestle has been fined anything) for putting monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in maggie noodles which have sold in India and been consumed for over 2 decades by Indians. Hence he was given the mantle to do the same in the US

Keep calm and drive your Jetta 1.9 TDI with the 6 speed DSG - the ones sold in India from about Sept 2008 till at least July 2010 (with the Pump Duse engine) without frowning.

The unfortunate EA 189 engines are 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 litre common rail ones.
