For all your resizing, cropping and bordering needs. Taken directly from my blog.

Ever wondered why the wallpaper on your phone does not appear as sharp as it does on the computer screens? The problem is phone upscales/downscales the image for the screen and is not very efficient at it.

So I decided to size it exactly as it wants it and voila, it was sharpest I have ever seen. But I can't do it for each image sizing it to perfect dimensions. I had been looking for a nice solution and finally decided to write a DOS script myself. The software used is irfanview, and I have used their command line switches to achieve desired results.

It takes around 5 minutes to set up first time, I have a copy for my phone and another for my windows desktop (slide show gadget). I use windows themes or else I could have one for wallpaper too. It's a single click operation. place the images in a folder and execute the .bat file. To make it easy, I have included some more .bat files and written a small readme.txt. Irfanview itself has a nice GUI to do all this but I love "single click" operations and this is just an addition to my various batch scripts. I am sure it can be improvised but this works perfectly for me. In fact, I use a shortened version since I don't need pause and explore folders while this happens (you can remove them from the main .bat file).

Attaching here my whole folder and the readme.txt to see before you get started.

Resize.zip

readme.txt

All I need now is a noise removal software that works in batch. But for the small sizes I use, noise is really not an issue for now.

Been to Suryanelli near Munnar over the weekend. Had the opportunity to click some shots which I always wanted.

This place is much more clam, quite and cooler than Munnar. Got disconnected from the rest of the world in every means for two days. We stayed in tents and slept in sleeping bags This is the evening view from the tent.

My humble attempts

Well, I decided not to post anything here due to my low profile camera & not so good pics. However, going through several pages, I found there's a lot of learning when the pics are shared. So I decided to take a plunge for one reason - learning & improvising my skill.

Pls note all of them are shot without tripod
These ones were shot by mounting the camera on balcony wall

BTW, the camera is Canon S5IS a simple P&S.

Got close to the subject out in the open with my kit lens.. Following TG's philosophy of getting close to the subjects rather than zooming in from a distance

Whoa guys, clevermax, shaju, pawan, v&v, hellwrath, crazydriver, pramod, jkdas, I was expecting to learn something from all of you!!! Isn't my pic even qualified to comment? Is it so worst? I know I did an overexposure on the second one, but still. Is it that bad? All of them?
