Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Thanks buddy and I missed commenting about the frog picture. How did you get so close? The photo is awesome, do enter it in a few competitions and you might win.

Edit: Another one for the fall colors:

Both are good, I wish I could be on that first image boat and dream having a hut among those second image trees ! As I told you earlier, I was not impressed with any of your 'fall' shots so far, but these two made me very happy

I dont remember what was my last image post here. This is my neighbor kid, taken with a 70-300, natural light, large thermocol sheet used as a reflector.

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY !!!

Alok,
This place is in Arlington, VA. It's called the Washington & Old Dominion Trail close to Four Mile Run Drive. In other words, it's right outside the place I live at .

Thanks, this place is called Burke Lake in Fairfax, Virginia. It's a lovely lovely place for fall colors.

Thanks Shaju and that's a wonderful portrait. Goes to show how much soft light/reflectors can help.

The above photograph posted by me was slightly out of balance, so I went back there yesterday to try and correct the composition and to try the newly acquired 14-45mm Panasonic OIS lens. Yes, this was used on the audacious mirrorless camera G1. The mistake that I did was to use a cheapo CPL that came with the lens and it screwed up my RGB values and made the photograph soft. Lesson learnt. Here are two more shots from the same trail.

@Hellwrath
Nice stuff there. Sorry to hear of the cpl issue though.

Fall season is in full form here in Washington, so I decided to take some memorable portraits of my dad n mom.

@Hellwrath the slow shutter one is very nice. Try with some more intersecting water swirls against such wonderful Background, if you already haven't

You are almost correct. I use by SB-800 with Filter gel, offcamera with a diffuser attached to it to get rid of the harshness.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@HellwratH : That's one mesmerizing snap.
I think I'll have it as a wallpaper(No..not desktop, but real WALLpaper)

@shajufx : As usual, fantastic snap. How do you do it every time !!!

@Torqueguru : You really are a guru at this (unlike my handle).

@C300 : Again, beautiful capture.

I would give my right arm to get such crisp snaps as you guys.
Think you guys should start a thread on DSLR tips & tricks for us novices.

Here's my take at Manhattan skyline (I'm terrible at night shots. please do pardon the noise)

Thanks TG. Fall is one amazing season but lasts very short. Some brilliant shots by You, as always.

Thanks. I wanted to give that a shot, but didn't want to get into the water as it was pretty cold. That's one problem with fall/winter :(.

Thanks C300. You're right, fall is the best season to visit NY. Lovely shot there, I see some minor color cast though.

Thanks buddy, I am honored. You don't have to give us your right arm, just blank cheques with your signature on them would do . Do let us know if you need anything specific and everyone on this forum will be more than happy to help you.

About your photograph, it's a little over-exposed for my taste. You might want to tone it down a bit in a photo editing software.

Ok, so here's some fun stuff for you guys (It's Friday!!). I acquired two legacy lenses recently and I received the adapter for them today. So, take a shot and guess which mystery lens I have used for the following shots?

These are taken with the G1 and are straight out of the camera (Jpegs. They were shot in B/W).

Hint: These lenses may be one of the lightest/smallest lenses ever made.

EDIT: Glomus, love that photograph. Brilliant exposure on that one.
