Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Wel, this one is from today's morning walk. Am laid up, but did not give up the opportunity to do some early morning shooting. I do not know the species of this butterfly. Could someone help out please?

Shot with a 70-300 mm non VR Nikkor G lens. RAW file processed in GIMP. Actually all I did was adjusted contrast and temperature.

Edit: Its called a tawny coaster

First pic is super, the last with cigarette should have the colored one, atleast we could have seen her nail-paint color

Lands in Germany are unaffordable, way too costly. You will enjoy the summer here, belive me winter is equally boring. 6 month haven and 6 month hell.

Very clean shot, you should have captured her tail as well.

Yesterday I was going through flickr and found this beautiful capture. I never thought one very simple flower on street can make such differnce if composed well.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

We were in Lansdowne last week. The hotel garden had some lovely flowers.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@deky,@pawan_pullarwar : Thanks. As for full pic, it was on the other side of gypsy so could not get the tail. Yah these birds are very friendly. Spent some time around there , they are not at all afraid of you. They ate a full dairy milk chocolate

@akp like the first shot. I am sending a PM for details of Lansdowne. May be a quick visit this weekend.

Here is the full shot of Treepie

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@Shaju,
The bokkeh dog should get you a bouquet!

@v&v,
Liked your second shot the best. The first one, as Pawan pointed out was a bit incomplete. And the couple make a good catch!

@Pawan,
That is the photograph that comes on the front page i.e. before signing in, correct?

@akp,
Very pretty shots.

Another butterfly shot from my side, this time a Lemon Pansy (what a name!). BTW, the previous butterfly was a Tawny Coaster. The post has been updated.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@typeO-: nice butterfly shots. I have been trying to shot a few and they can really test you patience at times.

@v&v: cropping the couple shot from below, around where the glass area starts and reflections and glare become a distraction might make it better.

Thanks. Any idea what flowers are those?
Here is another variety of the second flower (slightly different color), with a guest.

The blue one seems to be an Iris. The yellow one some sort of Zinnia. I am not an expert though and may be wrong.

Me and Guru? I was looking to see if I see Rudra guruji's photograph somewhere . Thank you, I have one more that I want to process and post. I will do that tonight. That dog shot is nice and like I was telling wish the man wasn't there, but never the less there's always a next time.

That's a very nice shot typeOnegative. Not sure if you have already read about colors in foreground and background, this is a very good example of representing harmony. Basically, the idea is that if you place the colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel, it represents harmony (very soothing to eyes). And if you place colors on the opposite side of the wheel, it creates contrast. More here,

Harmonizing Colors - What Are Harmonizing Colors

Thanks, the color one looked okay to me, nothing great. Hence, left it in B&W.

This one was taken way back in March 2008, using my Canon S3IS.
