Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Thanks TG and Groom.

Groom,
You'll be extremely happy with this lens. It's a tad long but works well for half body portraits and the colors are excellent.

I dont remember when I logged in here last, missing out the fun of previous years. Want to make some photography trips with friends, but not getting the right names and time. Hopefully things should change soon !!

Here is one from 2012.

Lovely shot Shaju.

A few photos from a recent trip. I seldom shoot humans (my wife once lamented that if my daughter had 4 legs or 2 wings then her photos would be clicked/ posted more often) but on a family trip one has to

Ambidextrous

Kit Kat thief
My daughter was throwing a tantrum about having a chocolate, we told her she would get it only after she finishes lunch. Then she wandered into my parents' room at the resort, found a Kit Kat on the mantelpiece, swooped on it like a hawk, and ran out.

And a couple of my usual shots.

Kumaon, Uttarakhand, late afternoon. The setting sun shining through a Teak forest.

By the way, I was using GIMP to resize the photos. The size difference between 100% JPEG quality and 90% JPEG quality is almost 6:1 or 7:1. With little visual difference (IMO) when posting on the web. Some of these photos are 70-80KB only. GIMP doesn't have a default 'save for web' option, and I don't like the plug-in for that. Happy that my resizing experimentation worked out.

First click with the new D5200 with the 50mm f/1.8 G lens.

A tiny bit of processing done on the photo, otherwise its almost straight out of the cam in JPEG/FINE quality.

Haha, its the same story with us as well. On all our trips, once we come back we realize that we had to get some snaps of us as a family also and not just shoot vistas and wildlife. Nice pictures btw.

Recently was at Kabini with my daughter while my wife was away on a trek in Ladakh. The free time between safaris was well utilized for walks and play with the little one and this time I made it a point not to leave the camera back at the room.

And here's another highlight from the trip - after seven odd safaris in search for it

Beautiful snaps guys! Looks like its the same story every where!
Nothing like shooting kids in the outdoors. Good lighting plus a bit a spontaneity gives immense opportunities to "snap" them in the act !

Aten't they all really beutiful (not only the ones in the posts quoted but all other kid's photos in the thread

Please preserve these for as they grow older the pure innocence that you can see in their eyes slowly gets replaced.

What I mean - it gets replaced with a lot of other positive things generally.

OT - You know one of the established process in many re-hab therapies is to make the patient look at their own childhood pictures and get used to idea that they were without any add ons once and they can go back to it.
