Colours

Was cleaning the camera bag and taking off the long lens from the camera. Put the 50mm f/1.8 on and took a few spontaneous shots of colourful stuff that I could see around me. The owner had gone to school, otherwise I would have taken a couple of portraits as well. Natural light from the windows, no flash.

I'm uploading these with some trepidation and apologies for the lack of resolution and technical quality.
Mods please feel free to discard the photos if you feel they are not upto scratch.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

A few more from the old trunk. These photos - for what they are worth - are more or less representative of a seafarer's life at the time. Tenures on board, followed by hectic vacations (often to Naukuchiatal) during the couple of months of leave that one got following the 4 months tenure on board. I guess not much will have changed since the time I quit blue water sailing in 2008.

Nice shots. I am contemplating to get a 50 mm lens for my humble D3100.

Need to decide between these two. Experts please recommend.

I found both more or less equal. I had the D version, it conked off after 3 years. Bought the G version recently.

Note: the D version wont autofocus with your camera.

So the difference of 4k because of auto focus!

Is auto focus really important for a prime lens?

Also will these lens also work with other Nikon DSLRs?

Just in case for ex I upgrade to a higher segment SLR in couple of years then I hope these lens will still work with them.

AF is important if you are shooting movement. For my use, good AF is a must have.

They will work with all Nikon DSLRs. And the D version with autofocus with higher end bodies that is D7x00 series and upwards.

Edit: this was taken with a DX body and the lowly 18-105 kit lens. While I have been planning to move to FX for a while, I can't help but appreciate the benefits of a light kit that can be easily carried.

Sometimes being at the right place at the right time beats having better gear. E.g. even our mobile phones capture very interesting moments that will never be captured with a proper camera.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Always wanted to contribute to this thread. I'm an amateur parttime photograph enthusiast, clicking random shots with my Nikon P900.

Few shots from the weekend trip to Serro do Cipo,Minas Gerais. Pics are edited in Google Photos for colour & Light.

Somebody please help me identify the birds.

Those are marvellous photos of the birds, 21Archer84! I am no photo enthusiast (just a point-shoot shutter-bug), but I found your captures very appealing. And not being an ornithologist, I too have problems identifying the few birds that I manage to shoot!
Cheers
