Its the same statue.. different angle. Look at the window on top right in the first pic. Its the one in the back in the second. Post processing?? The colors seem very vivid in the first one.

It looks exact same to me, the statue and the background. The only difference being the angle at which they were taken and the colors, which I think is the result of WB settings and time of day or the statue and background got a fresh coat of paint.

Rudra I shot the pic while the place was being re-painted and what can we expect out of a puny 3MP camera ? Adding a little bit of contrast to it changed the way it looks, simble ..

I think major factor over here is "White Balance".

IMO first picture was clicked with "Fluorescent" White Balance". I predicting this on the basis of blue color int he first picture. Its not just the statue check the lights in the back.

I played around with While balance a little mostly indoors. The results were not very pleasing. So I stick to the AWB setting.

Any idea how the white balance is used to better an image?

check the following link for more

Understanding White Balance

After checking this link you would come to know why the first pic has more of blue color.

The main idea of WB (IMO) is to capture the colors accurately. If you are shooting RAW, then leave the WB on custom and change it during processing to reproduce what you saw or what you like to see. You can use the color temperature or set a color point (usually any white patch in your picture).

Alternatively you can insert a white card into the frame whenever you are taking a picture and use it to set the colors right.

Hey Guys,
Am a seafarer & i've got quite a few pics to show you. I use a Pentax Optio 550, Digicam, 5MP, 5x zoom, remote control & quite a few features which normal point & shoots don't have.
