My S2 is on its way. Hopefully will be in my hands on monday. ($499 +tax ) Am not getting the SD card for now. Exceeds the budget. :( Will get it soon.

As for the SD card speed, a re-search in the camera forums, shows that this is one area where even the Canon support isnt specific about. The forums do recommend something >40X...

Sweet stuff!! Though you did pay ~$60 more than you needed to.. unless you are buying it in bangalore?

Doesn't hurt to get a >40x. I know the S2 has the digic(?) processor from the canon SLRs, but i dont know much about the internal write speed.

Have fun.

@Rehaan: Yes, I did end up paying more. Could not manage to shop-online, due to lack of time. Purchased at SFO. Anyway no regrets, got what I wanted? It's got digic II processor.
Thanks for your tips. Have a great weekend.

They are the best cameras in this segment.
I agree, both models are very highly rated overall and are reasonably priced. Many online reviews confirm this, as well as a recent consumer reports article that ranked the a510 #1 comparing 70 or so digital cams. Although the a510 is 3MP, the a520 can usually be had for the same price.

I finally picked a Nikon 5900, and yes, it's BLUE!

The closest competition came from the cheaper Canon A610, but it was larger, it doesn't use Lithium Ion batteries, and it wasn't yet available in India.

The 5900 fits my requirements to a T. Well, I paid slightly more, Rs 13000, and I didn't get a warranty, but technically, I am one happy camper.

I have an A610 and it is a good camera. As you say it does not have a Lithium battery but I use Rechargable NiMH AA batteries. I have 8 such batteries and I can easily take more than enough pictures before needing to recharge a set of 4.

Actually thanks for reminding me about cameras because I have just checked and the price has dropped by £20.55 since when I got my repacement camera. I can now claim this difference back.
