I think the sensor needs cleaning. The spots are at the same points in the last image, barring an extra one in the last image.

Exactly what I thought, especially since it occurs with different optics.

Could it be some worm like UFO that you've caught inadvertantly? Check the aerial movements with the Royal Observatory on that day..

BTW, I liked the last pic..

My thoughts too. Do you guys think that an year is enough for the sensor to accumulate this much dust, especially with the Pentax having the Anti-dust functionality! I think there is a sensor dust map as well. Will try it out and post the result here.

Thanks GD..Well I will be revealing my identity if I involve the authorities here! Will post a few pics from my trip on the Non Auto Image thread.

Cheers guys!

Thanks for the update Anirban

I have to get a new DSLR. I had a Pentax K100D Super but had a few problems with it. Rather than getting the same again I can get a Nikon D40 or Sony Alpha 200 (direct repalcement) or D60 (or Canon EOS 1000D)(will have to pay difference equivalent to RS 5100).

I don't use the camera very often so was wondering which one to go for. Is it worth paying the extra for the D60 or 1000D considering I am a very casual photographer ? I think I took less than 100 shots in 10 months with the Pentax.

PEntax makes excellent cameras. Good VFM and pretty good image quality. K200 is the best bet if you can get that

I can get the K200 but will have to pay the equivalent of RS9000 in addition. Thats why I was more inclined to the D40, D60 or 1000D.

I can absolutely vouch for the Pentax K200D. It never fails to surprise me, almost everyday! And you know the true value when and if you lay hands on the vintage Takumar/Pentax lenses. Brilliant VFM.

On the other hand, do you really want to get a DSLR if you are a casual photographer. Why not a very capable Canon G10 or something similar?

FATAL3RROR

The original Pentax K100 super cost me nothing (don't ask long story ) so I might as well exchange it for another free DSLR.

As you say I am a casual photographer so is it worth just doing a straight swap for the Nikon D40 (or Sony) with no payment or shall I pay a bit extra and get the D60 (or Canon EOS 1000D) ?

A bit confused as cameras are not really my thing.

I have a Canon A610 which I also use occasionally (and that was free as well).

Like cameras, are automobiles too free for you along with free replacement?

See if you can wait till May 21 and get the new (rumored) Pentax K7
That said, I too have an K200D. Great VFM. Sometimes, it will not let me take total control, otherwise it does the job.
What do you do, where you can get K200 for just Rs 9000?

I wish they were along with free servicing. I am getting a brand new free garden shed though

The Canon A610 was free because the support staff at Amazon in India gave me the run around for a month so their European support team wrote off the cost of the A610.

Sorry the K200 will cost of RS9000 after I give the Super K100d back.

I think I can wait till May, are there any other new models due about the same time. It Nikon and Canon are due to deliver new versions soon I might as well things off for a few months.

Interesting, I know it is not the top of the line SLR, but what control do you find missing? Maybe that 'll inspire me to upgrade!
