At 56k, D90 is a good buy.
18-105 lens can meet many of your needs. Good for portraits and landscapes. Don't ever think about bird/wildlife photography yet.

I found this article The 50mm f/1.8 – Small Wonder!

This lens retails for just about 100 $ US and I was quite impressed with the article!!!

If the experienced gurus could please share their views on the same

I have this lens. Wonderful piece for portraits I must say. It give much more professional look to snaps with additional sharpness and depth of filed. Haven't tried anything other than portraits with this lens. The article shows different perspectives with the lens. Let me try something different next time.
The 66k I mentioned in previous post includes this lens as well.

I use this lens quite extensively. For all my IR shots as well as for low light shots this lens just excels.
The best VFM lens money can buy.
A little soft at 1.8, it becomes tack sharp around F4 - F8 range.
Infact I do not have to apply any sharpening to pics taken in this range.

but it does not cost 100$ it costs around 70$ in the US

Unlike an used car, an used Camera can't be easily inspected for all problems even by expert users. There is just too much electronics in current dSLRs, it is practically a black box. So I am not surprised nobody is volunteering to make an inspection.

You can ask a Nikon dSLR user to check out the most commonly used controls and see whether they work. Beyond that it would take a week to a month to fully explore the camera and find all the issues.

Not a great lens. The 55-250 IS or 70-300 IS are much better. I'd look to upgrade this lens to either the 55-250 or 70-300 mentioned above.

Canon EOS Utility CD

Hello Guys

I have a Canon Rebel XT (350D in India) SLR Digital Camera.
Unfortunately, i have lost the EOS Utility Software CD package.
I recently lost my laptop and got a new one. And i need to install the software to download my Camera's snaps real quick.
I tried to download from the net, but looks like, i need to have a version of it on my pc and i can only upgrade it from the net.

Can any one suggest if i can get a CD after market? Or can anyone in Bangalore share it with me for a while.

Regards
Pramod

Have a read of this, worth a try as the work around may still be ok.

EOS utility softare - Canon Digital Photography Forums

As an alternative there are also a few d/l links on the thread, so you can d/l and then update.
