Got it from a gentleman who works for a reputed software company in a good role, He was was upgrading and wanted a quick sale and that's how I got it, No idea about the price drop, but one thing I noticed was that Prices of D40 went up after Nikon stopped making them

Guys what is the current grey prices for the Nikon SB-600 speedlite flash?

Where in India would be the cheapest to buy the same from?

Any help would be much appreciated.

This may be irrelevant to your question but just fyi - I bought mine for 13k with bill & warranty from Inter-Foto, the Nikon distributor, in Delhi, 2-3 years ago.

70 - 200: f/2.8 OR f/4

After literally months of thought i am down to two canon (zoom) lenses. But i am not able to decide between the two-

70 - 200 f/4 or the 70 - 200 f/2.8
spec common to both the lenses: L IS USM

Is the f/2.8 worth the extra money and weight, actually more or less double the price of the f/4 ?

I have used both the f/4 and the f/2.8. I dont own either and they were not used under the same conditons. The f/4 has excellent IQ even wide open. I never got to use the f/2.8 wide open as the I needed more DOF. I would suspect that the f/4 at f/4 might be sharper than the f/2.8 at f/2.8 (both are very very good so this difference might well be based on the subject and lighting conditions).

If you shoot a lot under low light conditions (indoors, theater, etc..) the f/2.8 might make sense otherwise the f/4 is a fantastic lens.

On a 40D you can push ISO to 1600 on a 5DII maybe even 3200 (not used the 5DII). So given that you can push ISO so high the f/4 might make more commercial sense.

It largely depends on what you want to shoot. Assuming as you've asked the question I feel its for hobbiest use. I've owned the F4 70-200 and never felt the need for 2.8, infact the 2.8 is quite heavy. I suggest you go in for the F4 and buy another lens with the money saved.
