Re: Office Websense blocks TBHP.

How about using TBHP mobile as a stopgap arrangement. You could also subscribe to threads and get alerts on email as and when there are replies to the threads that interest you.

Thats a good idea. But again mobile won't deliver the 100% fun.

Re: Office Websense blocks TBHP.

Don't even attempt that work if websense is deployed.

vpn / rdp / proxy are most basic things that are blocked and in quite a few places unauthorized vpn would lead to getting escorted out of building.

Only in small companies where only http traffic is filtered this might work.

Okay, then one can do this.

USE ULTRA REACH:go to ultrareach.com, download program, copy onto a flashdrive, and open on any pc to unblock websites(file name is U996)

OR

Can you see if you can access with https://www.team-bhp.com/forum ? Some NW admins are stupid and overlook secured sites. Try your luck.

How about wireless broadband ? Switch connections during lunch or your break time .. then get back to work.

You can try Apple Safari or Maxthon browser*.

*Maxthon browser has a a private browser and a special "BOSS KEY". All you have to do is press the boss key (default is Alt+`) you can reprogram and the window dissappears. To make it reappear just press the boss key again. It is wonderful! (via torquecurve)

Do we work in the same company or our IT guys come from the same school of thought. Chrome/Firefox/Opera do not work here and we get struck to IE all the time. These Firewalls are pathetic. I would rather love working in a Product Development Company rather than being in Service Offering Company, atleast PDC's have less restrictions as compared to SOC's.

OH MY GOD !
I didn't know you work for a crazy company.

My heartfelt compassionate sympathy for you, and pray God to give a fraction of T-Bhp wisdom to these IT guys.

Cheers

I don't think you can call them crazy for that policy. For a company, browser is a tool, not an entertainment app for their employees. Lot of web apps written between late 90s and early 00s run only on IE, some need IE6 and nothing else will do. For example, ActiveX apps run most optimally on IE and nothing else. For a fat-client app, ActiveX is still a very popular technology since it can coded in C/C++ to run natively.

There are many big companies who disable CD drives, USB drives, etc., on employee PCs. Using IE is not crazier than that.

Good to have some sane voices here. Those that love the team, spend whatever little time off duty, paying for the internet etc. And calling the employers network policy crazy is down right cheap.

For the record, each and every post made by me and a few friends that I know out here are after hours of work and at our expense. Show some respect for what you love guys! Okay you cheat at work, (thats bad) but complain about it? Is this is some kindergarten club?
