Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

I was pretty satisfied with BSNL internet and was using it since past couple of years in Jaipur. But since the past few months, the downtime was high, speed pretty low, loads of issues with voice quality. Complained till the highest possible level yet the issues couldn't be resolved. Finally made a switch to Reliance Jio a couple of months ago and have been really really happy with it. No downtime till date, superb speeds (20 mbps + most of the times and as high as 70 mbps sometimes!). I am just waiting for their commercial launch to see the plans. If the plans are good, I am keeping the connection and will get a MiFi device from them. The LYF mobile I bought can easily be sold anyway.

Got Spectranet installed today (South Bangalore). 20 mbps down, 10 mbps up, no FUP. Vast difference from the 8 mbps down, 0.7 mbps up from Airtel DSL, the maximum speed Airtel provides in this area. Hopefully Spectranet will prove to be as reliable as Airtel.

Condor, regarding your FTTH, does the fiber actually reach inside your home? Do you have a fiber modem and router both installed in your home?

Yes, Shipnil. The Fibre endrs right inside our house. Yes to all your questions - including the FTTH modem and a wire-less modem.

Anyone using Jio on Iphone 6?

Sim is activated, able to browse sites, but unable to log on into Myjio app. Asks for Jio # / Customer # for sign up, gives "invalid subscriber" error.

Support staff asks to wait for 24 hours and I do not trust them.

Thanks in advance!

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

I am thinking about replacing my 8 Mbps Airtel Broadband with 40 Mbps ACT fibernet.

ACT is clearly offering better speed and value when compared to Airtel but I am worried about the customer service and reliability. Airtel, though not flawless, are the best in this area at my location.

Any ACT users from New Delhi here? Feedback please.

definitely go for it. Been on ACT in chennai now for four months and have had only one day of downtime. I have Youbroadband as well in parallel. When I finish my FUP quota on ACT I just recharge my Youbroadband and I am instantly connected. It is also a failover and being prepaid I can do it only when I need it for example a situation when ACT is down!!
Airtel is offering me only 2mbps in my area while both ACT and Youbroadband are claiming up to 100Mbps. I did try the 100Mbps for one month and only saw speeds up to 60Mbps. So I am now on 40Mbps on ACT and 50Mbps on Youbroadband. Combined cost adds up to the same price as a single 100Mbps connection and provides me failover in the bargain.

Is there any FTTH service available in Mumbai? My 5net plan is expiring tomorrow and I'm looking to try Jio, but apparently they aren't rolling out FTTH until January 2017. Are there any other options?

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

Reliance fiber at Trivandrum- Pathetic
Started off with 2Mb and upgraded to 4Mb unlimited. I got no update that it was upgraded too and I found it out when it was actually giving me less than 1Mb!

After 3 service requests ( which they closed without asking me) and few mails, they fix it. Seems they configured it wrong ( to human is to err and hence put me in 1Mb pipe!).

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

Question for 5net users in Bombay - my friend's local 5net operator (Weblink at Ghatkopar) offers only yearly plans - i.e. pay upfront for the whole year. He is finishing a year now but he doesn't want to pay upfront for a whole year again. Is this yearly thing standard with all 5net operators or do they also offer monthly/quarterly plans?

Using 5net via Net9 Online (based in Prabhadevi). They do offer monthly/quarterly plans but they are priced a little more. My yearly plan expired in October and I renewed for 6months. Cost me a little extra but that's fine, I'm waiting for Reliance Jio FTTH.

Re: How Fast Is Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection?

Well, I guess I'm one of those first few testing mules in bangalore for airtel. Got myself the new v-fiber technology. The claim speeds are up to 100mbps soon, for time being 40mbps.
However, last 24 hours of usage I can say it's not consistent as of now.
100 is far away, still not able to get the claimed 40!

The payouts remain the same, however had to pay 1000 rupees for the fancy looking new router, as the old one provided was not compatible!
