So finally the application has been taken off.
Now just a blank screen comes up on the page which used to display friends and their location :(

Re: Google Latitude: Rest in Peace

I would say a very bad decision by Google.
No way this would urge me or other latitude crazy people to Use Google+.

Latitude was Best and Easiest, Even My 70+ year old parents used it regularly.

Now its a Dark End to location sharing on android, infact easiest way is self destructed.

I used to be a above average "Google Mapper" and have stopped adding places since this was announced.

Hate google for this decision.

For Android users there is Life360, hemisphere and Swarmly. They also do history, though the time stamping and updates can get weird. Google has also released a low power 'passive' location API, and guess they want someone else to do the heavy lifting.

On iOS, Find Friends works just fine for Family (someone not on your AppleID). I also use PlaceMe, which like Latitude shows map & time stamp history, but is account specific.
