Adding Free-to-Air Channels to Tata Sky

Hi guys,

How does one add a free-to-air channel to Tata Sky?

Mum wants to watch the Soham channel on her DTH. It's a Tata Sky HD box with recording facility.

Thanks!

This is what I was able to get from a fried who tried, not sure on the results.

To get free channels on tatasky do the following steps. Ensure that your tatasky STB is HD plus. Ordinary tatasky HD box cannot show pics even if you can store channels. These boxes will show This message '' sorry this channel is not available.''
Press organiser button on the remote ,then go to System Settings. then press select button on the remote .you will get system details. see the soft ware version. If it is 1.0.6.001 Nov. 08 2011. then its Ok.

Press back button once and go to user settings . go to add channels . enter satellite scan . add transponder details. (convert c band frequency in to Ku band. Other parameters like polarisation Symbol rate, FEC Qpsk/8psk are to be added accordingly. then press search button on the remote. if the details are correct the box will search for channels you needed to store manually. store replace or store append functions are available . store replace will used for the transponder we are searching. Store append will keep all searched channels in the memory.

Re: Adding Free-to-Air Channels to Tata Sky

Sorry for bumping old thread. I thought this is better idea than opening new thread.

My TATASky subscription about to end. I want to view FTA (Free to Air) channels using TATAsky HD set top box. Anyone know the setup to view them or I have no other option than buying new Set Top Box for FTA ?

Hi Folks,
Here is list of FTA channels (all SD) for first 100, there is complimentary list of another 153 channels. You can find the list here->https://www.tatasky.com/wps/portal/T...onsumer-corner. You do not need another set-top box.

Re: Adding Free-to-Air Channels to Tata Sky

Hello Everyone!

Which are the good movie channels (English and Hindi) on Tata Sky with limited number of ads? Are there any documentary movie channels also? Since the last few years, I have only been subscribing to a few news and knowledge channels and am now thinking of expanding the list.

Re: Adding Free-to-Air Channels to Tata Sky

Once upon a time, we had 3 Tata Sky STBs operational. Now, we have discontinued two of them (because of firetv sticks) and they are lying somewhere in a cupboard. Can we see FTA channels in those STBs?

Yes. You need to activate the connection and pay a minimum fee that is charged for the FTA channels. (I think it is ~150 rupees or so)

I think the STBs become deactivated after one year of continues non-usage. I remember reading it somewhere.

For Hindi there is Star Gold Select HD which has lesser ads and good movies mostly. For English there's a bunch of good ones, & Flix HD, & Prive HD play some good movies.

Unfortunately I think that is not possible, unless Tata Sky and others offer something for the next couple of months. There are several free news apps on smart TVs and fire stick. You can use those if that is possible for you.

If you have Vodafone check out the Vodafone Play App, Jio also has something similar. They have a bunch of channels you can see for free and cast on your tv.
