Thanks for the info, mxx! Was planning to go to Phoenix Market City in Whitefield tomorrow or over the weekend. Will definitely check it out.
That thread has 5 posts and is 6 years old.
Yes, I saw this thread and the title seemed to suggest something else. Coming back to Team-BHP after a long time, I had forgotten about the moderators penchant here to merge seemingly unrelated threads like the one I started. As usual, I guess my thread and my query will have an untimely demise.
Thanks a lot for the link! I am looking into it right now. |
While I am not an expert on this topic, I know that in Phoenix Mall in Pune there is a shop which deal with used games, mobiles, consoles and so on.
On the same floor, Landmark has a big store and it also has a section on used games.
I am sure, Bangalore has something similar.
The IVG forum is a good starting point.
With regards to import, someone should comment on region codes for the discs and which imported games will work on Indian edition of console. Plus if NTSC and PAL aspects are relevant, please describe those as well.

Ivg is a much better place to buy used games than olx. Just see the feedback of the seller before buying. You can even sell there after you are done with the game. I know a dealer from bangalore though, who can get you sealed new games for 10-20% off. I purchase new games from him mostly. One of the best dealers. Better than flipkart IMO. Pm me if you want his details.
You can even try import sites like playasia, shopto and all for older games. They may have it for even cheaper.
Hope this helps :)

Just joined IVG yesterday. Still waiting to get approved as a member so that I can access the For Sale section. Thanks for the tips on how to buy on IVG.
Have sent you a PM. Would definitely like that info as I have been buying games with hardly any discount.
Hi,
Also you can visit landmark and exchange your games.
Additionally if you have XBOX Live it is a good idea to download the demo; have your son play it and then decide if it is worth buying.
Also there are PRe-Owned games available for dirt cheap which you could buy.
Thanks,
Anurag
I have the normal PS3. Can I get the eye camera and move controller separately and get it connected and make it work ?

Yes, you can. It is a simple plug and play accessory.

Thanks much for the info. Now my hunt begins to source them. Hope to get them at Sony centres.
Try ordering online for best deals or if possible, try to get it from someone coming from US.
Last Christmas, i saw Walmart selling PS3 Move Controller and Eye Camera bundle for 36$.
Does Sony India repair out of warranty ps3's ?
I'm not able to turn on my ps3 since few weeks
What's the procedure of getting an out of warranty ps3 replaced or repaired ?

My PS3 had same problem last year in Chennai, the cause was voltage spike, i think.
I bought mine from Canada an year before.
I contacted Chennai Sony Service Center, they told me that they don't repair PS3; heck they don't even open it to check the fault. But will give you a brand new PS3 if it is in warranty and you have bills.
I told them that it is in warranty but i had lost the bill. So they offered me a brand new PS3 for 50% off the sale price. I took that offer. My old one was 160 gb version but i got 320gb as replacement for around 8k INR.
Edit: I did find out that there were few unauthorized shops who repair gaming consoles but they charge good premium just to check the issue with no guarantee if it they could fix it or not. Parts costs were also high.
Hope it helps!

I'm aware of this procedure, what i wanted to know was that whether they would offer the same 50% offer on an out of warranty ps3.
This is my second ps3 and its really annoying to see these machines getting damaged so easily. Im now seriously thinking of shifting on to xbox 360

Yes.
Contact tne Sony service center and they will offer you a new PS3 at 50% off. They do this for all out of warranty ps3.
Voltage spike is a big issue when it comes to Ps3. I had to replace mine 3 times in one year due to it. Thank god it was in warranty. Then someone suggested me to get a APC ups and attach ps3 with it and since then there has been no issue. So, i will recommend you to do the same. Its for around 2300.
Hope this helps.
