Re: Internet Browsers

@2500cc & Jalsa777 ..

I am using standard image that our office provides. If there was a problem with any component, then I would not be the only one complaining -and the image would have been rectified.

Keyboard drivers - problem not seen in any other application
Graphics - standard stuff for Lenovo laptops.
Add-ons - I dont use the stuff. I stick to basic version of IE.

The problem is intermittent it seems - right now I am happily typing at my normal speed in IE.

Re: Internet Browsers

Google Chrome related query: Whenever I have tried to download and install Chrome it always install in the partition labeled "C" without offering a choice about the drive where I wish to install it. Has this changed? If not is there a workaround to make it install in a partition other than C drive?

Re: Internet Browsers

@RS_DEL, there is a simple hack for that:

Change the location of "programfilesDir" sub-key, reboot, & then install.
After installation, make sure you revert (if required)

Recently I switched to RockMelt browser. It is built on top of Chrome. It has some amazing social capabilities built into it. Now I have all my social as well as RSS feeds a single click away.

Re: Internet Browsers

From the past one week i have had a major issue with 'Search' on all websites thanks to a new software called 'autocompletepro'. I have no idea as to how it has come on board for i have not installed it. It is making searching on all websites irritating.

Normally all websites have auto suggestions like google and it is very handy and useful. But this is totally different and new and unpleasant. There is an option to disable it alright, but every time i close and reopen the browser it is back. Can someone help me to get rid of it please.

Edit : The pic is from Gsmarena and i am sure most people know how auto suggestions work on that site. This 'site search, web search, twitter' is so damn annoying and confusing.

Re: Internet Browsers

Since last week, my laptop has been crashing browser after browser.

First of all, Google Chrome stopped functioning. While trying to start it, only a Loading message appeared and nothing else on the page.
So i started using Firefox which I had also installed. After a couple of days Firefox does not start up at all. Nor does it give any error.
In the meanwhile I tried to troubleshoot for both Chrome and Firefox. Also uninstalled and installed Chrome again, but no success.
So I started using final back up of IE. However, now IE is closing down every couple of clicks. Then it restores the page and then the same story.
What could be the problem here and how can I fix it?

The laptop is only a year old and cannot afford to replace it. Only one AV is installed (latest version of AVG) and it is up to date. No other external devices attached. Appreciate any tips/ assistance as I would like to avoid going to the service centre as far as possible.
Thanks in anticipation!

Re: Internet Browsers

check for any malware and use some stand alone virus / malware scanning tool like one trend micro to scan the system, Also enable the in built windows firewall and if there are any exceptions in rules, pls remove them .

why you are thinking of replacing the laptop due to browser problem.

Re: Internet Browsers

Didnt know where to post this, so posting it here.

@mods please move it if inappropriate.

Got this auto update for Google Chrome today saying something about "spell check" But, the shocking part is that the spelling of "better" & "check" itself is wrong in the update notification.

Could this be a bug?

Thanks.

I generally use Firefox at both home and office. I find it more suited for my use. However gmail opens better in Chrome and downloads are the most reliable in IE (both FF and chrome can give errors and interruptions). So all web browser downloads for me are through Free Download Manager which has never failed me.

Another widely used source for browser share is Netmarketshare.

http://www.netmarketshare.com/

This gives share globally, by country, and also be browser versions (eg IE 6 to 10). Netmarketshare is also widely quoted for browsers and OS share.

Re: Internet Browsers

Pale Moon browser. Discovered this browser through a colleague and there is just no way I am heading back to Chrome which started to get quite annoying and heavy on resources.

'Downloads' is one area where IE scores over Chrome. Chrome has problem completing large downloads (> 50MB).
