I have updated the firmware on my 6680. It was pretty simple.

Backup your present data (contacts, images, videos, etc etc) and then connect your USB cable. This only works via Cable.

Cheers!!!

Good info but can turn into disaster as Nokia use many versions like india, finland etc...nokia india has 2 lines in phone sometimes where nokia fin.version has only 1.becareful in updating s.w else you need to flash yr cell at nokia service station.,Visit this link which pops up when I visited mentioned link posted here>http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,21939,00.html

see a clear word made in finland written inside the label.
Be safe,stay fit!

Read FAQ
10. My friend could update his/her software but I couldn’t. What’s wrong?
Update availability is based on many things including existing phone software (firmware) version, country, and operator. It may be due to one of these variables that your phone isn’t eligible for updates. You may also be lacking some required settings, or your phone may not be compatible with this phone update.

I have a Nokia India (bill wala) phone and it worked for me. If the firmware available on this site does not matches your phone, it will mention that you already have the latest update available.

Cheers!!!

Just updated my Nokia 6630 and my sisters N70 yesterday through this software..worked great for both phones..took around 30 minutes total time per handset to upgrade the software.
Had backed up the phone memory to the Mini SD cards of the respective phones.
Post-upgrade,I didn't notice anything better in the N70,but the 6630 certainly was opening applications and working more faster than previously.
A few important points -
1.Keep the phone on a charger while the upgrade is going on..you don't want the phones battery to drain out in between the process.
2.I would suggest a UPS backup of atleast 30 mins incase of a power outage..or then if you're on a laptop, have the battery fully charged during the upgrade process.
3.Remove the Mini SD card while updating the software..just as a safety precaution that the memory card backup will remain safe.
4.Keep the phone in the General mode(this is also stated in the upgrader software).

Cheers,
-sr
