Thata a good decision to go with Jasjam. I would rather suggest you to go with the HTC version called TynTyn. Other hardware vendors like Quantum (makers of O2 Atom) may take some time before fixing some niggling problems as they are relatively new in the market.

Imate service sucks. I believe any warranty issue, they just push it back saying there is water logging and can't accept under warranty. If there is a good price difference if you get a unlocked device from UK or elsewhere, take a chance and go for it. There could be almost a 50% price difference.

Uhhhh, folks, Its TyTN (to sound like "Titan"), not TynTyn.

Nikki, a TyTN would most likely be available unlocked (and not not tied in to an Operator & plan) as it is sold directly by HTC, and not through a Mobile Operator or MVNO. You'll get deets on the TyTN directly from
http://www.europe.htc.com/products/htctytn.html

From their website, I understand that they sell only in the Americas, Europe & South Africa, Japan & Taiwan right now. Not yet in the Middle East.

Fact is, that's just what I do. I go to the Pizza Corner near here and buy a Rs. 30 card, and I'm connected for up to one hour.

At the office, I just have to walk in, and I can be online anytime.

THIS is a hot one!!!! Sad that it doesn't have 3g.... Also, one of my main requirement - hand writing recognition is missing!!!
This link gives a better pic... ETEN - ETEN Glofiish X500
Overall... I liked the package.... guess it costs around 30K right?!!
What say guys?!! GPS adds that extra edge to the package!!

@nikki, it runs WiMo5. It will have handwriting recognition. There is an SIP (Software Input Panel) called Transcriber built-in to all WiMo devices as part of the OS. You will be able to switch between 3 modes of entry -- Keyboard, Transcriber and another form of handwriting recognition similar to Palm's Grafitti (I forget the Windows name for it).

And, you can install an even better handwriting recognition SW called Calligrapher from PhatWare. It is a real kick@$$ SW that is even better and faster than Transcriber.
