Re: What Apps are installed on your smartphone?

I use the following Apps on my Nexus 4 on top of the general Apps.
  • 360 Antivirus - Not sure how effective it is, but it helps in cleaning the junk that gets accumulated.
  • Army Knife for Android (Nice utilities for random usages, you never know when you'll need these.)
  • ChromeCast
  • Drippler (for getting quick bytes on what's happening new mostly in Android world)
  • Dubsmash (I installed to get lot of videos done with my kids, but am constrained currently for time and creativity)
  • ES File Explorer (for all file management needs)
  • Common Floor Groups (for my residential complex networking)
  • Google Keep (for all my quick note taking needs). Evernote is a much better tool, but Keep serves my needs just fine.
  • Lync 2013 - For office IM needs.
  • MarutiCare - very rarely used. Might uninstall.
  • MX Player - for the video playbacks. After Lollipop upgrade, the tool is not as stable as earlier. I'll have to find an alternative
  • NovaLauncher - Although I don't customize much, I like how the wallpaper is displayed using Nova Launcher
  • Power Toggles - Small nifty tool for controlling on-offs of various services. I use it for wifi, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, Screen Rotate, Flash, Screen Lock mostly. Although these can be accessed easily from notification panel, but it needs a double swipe down. This App avoids that.
  • RSA SecurID - Office VPN
  • Talk - For that occasional Text to speech needs. When I'm constrained for time, I copy the detailed posts/reviews on Team Bhp to this App and listen to them while driving. It is crude as there is lot of manual work involved. Time for Google to enable text to speech on the Chrome. Or is it already there?
  • TED Talks
  • TwoDots - Simple addictive game. On round 209 currently.
  • Universal Scorecard - For that occasional Rummy playing sessions with friends
  • Vaulty - For storing anything very personal or should be kept away from kid's eyes.
  • WhatsApp - Major usage is to connect with my Friday Volleyball buddies and to get the gaming sessions planned.
  • WPS Office - I feel this is better than Google Docs, Sheets etc. All combined in one App.

I Team BHP App, but after mobile skin is launched, uninstalled the app.

Other than these, I install and immediately uninstall Bookmyshow, Shopping sites (Amazon, Flipkart) on need basis.

Please suggest any better alternatives to the ones I'm using in case I'm using medieval ones.

Considering I'm using my phone for close to three years, the power button is showing its age. I'm looking for an App where I don't have to use the power button.

GTO, how did you find the battery performance using this App? Did it shorten the times between charges?

Re: What Apps are installed on your smartphone?

I will add my contribution, I use twilight in addition to the usual suspects.

Its a screen dimmer that works great at night time by reducing the screen brightness and giving it a red hue, read more here.

From their about section:
Quote:
The Twilight app makes your device screen adapt to the time of the day. It filters the flux of blue light emitted by your phone or tablet after sunset and protects your eyes with a soft and pleasant red filter. The filter intensity is smoothly adjusted to the sun cycle based on your local sunset and sunrise times.

Re: What Apps are installed on your smartphone?

App that would be useful to people here is "Moves" in ios

it basically tracks your movement and you can check where you have been and how much time you are taking for commute etc. Very useful fitness app also as it tracks the number of steps you are walking or Kms you cycle. It does all of this automatically.

Re: What Apps are installed on your smartphone?

I use
1. Watsapp
2. Ibank (ICICI Bank app)
3. Ola cabs
4. Zoom cars
5. Car Trade
6. TBHP
7. Quick Heal
8. Light Room
9. Naukri
Occasionally I download certain apps based on need and delete them after requirement. This is because my phone (Galaxy S3) is 3 years old, yes I don't change mobiles too often, and is very slow.
Incidentally I find the mobile website more user friendly than the TBHP app, when I downloaded the app I couldn't do certain tasks.

Re: What Apps are installed on your smartphone?

Following are the apps on my Moto Android phone (quite basic). I am someone who doesn't like apps much and prefer to access through Chrome wherever possible (e.g. Amazon, Team-BHP, etc).

Work
Calendar (default Google app works seamlessly)
CamScanner (awesome app for that scan)
Google Docs, Sheets, Slides
Google Drive
Google Keep (great app for storing notes and syncing with the cloud)
K9 Mail (one of the best apps for IMAP emails)
Polaris Office (can open literally any file extension)

Others
Chromecast (have 2 of them at home so is really easy to control from the app)
Compass
ES File Explorer
Flipkart (came by default with my Moto else would delete it first thing!)
Gmail (for my multiple personal email accounts)
Hangouts
Maps
Ola
Uber
Truecaller
VLC
WhatsApp
Wynk Music (can't live without music and since I am on Airtel, this app seems to be the most pocket friendly)
YouTube (essentially for my son to see nursery rhymes)

I don't have a racing team, I have joined one. Perhaps we can create a racing team for Team-Bhp, what say?

Re: What Apps are installed on your smartphone?

I'm only listing the ones that I really like in my phone, not the other 100+ that still serve some or the other purpose :P

First things first, you've got to protect your phone -

BitDefender Antivirus - Antivirus (one of the most effective antivirus apps that's low of resource consumption also)
Malwarebytes - AntiMalware (nothing comes close, even for PC)

Keep by Google or ColorNote if Keep is not available in your phone (note taking app)

ADM - ultimate download app

aCar
- Everything that you can ask for to track all vehicle related data

Alarm Clock Xtreme Free
- One HAS to wake up when they have to dismiss an alarm by solving math problems, shaking device rigorously, entering captcha etc. I swear by it because I'm one of those who can't wake up without an alarm

BuyHatke - Very recently installed it and helps me keep track of those faaltu products that I'd buy only if they were available at a certain price. So decide your bargain price and wait till one of the ecommerce websites matches it!

CamScanner - Scan any document like a professional scanner, a photo taken from your phone never matches this scanner's ability

CCleaner - Get rid of the junk in your phone (must have for PC also)

Expense Manager - very handy during my holidays to keep track of expenses

GoPro - anybody using a GoPro MUST have this app

Greenify - While my Nexus's battery saving mode beats anything that I've ever seen when it comes to saving battery, this is good for those who don't have similar modes (which are effective too) on their phone

Notable - Are you the kind of guy who MUST have a ToDo list. Well, I'm that kind of guy and this app beats everything else out there. Having ToDo items in your notification bar ensures important stuff is always in your radar.

QuitNow! - For those who are trying to quit smoking, the stats in this app will ensure that you quit for good

Gravity Screen - Might take some getting used to, but once you do its pretty cool.

9GAG - Your daily dose of all sorts of humour from across the world. Did you know that Leonardo Di Caprio is on 9GAG??!!

As for Games

MARVEL Contest of Champions
- ultimate fighting game
Traffic Racer - good for a quick dash in the traffic at high speeds
Hill Climb Racing - we've got a thread decided to this, enough said
Hungry Shark - You are a shark in an ocean full of fishes, people swimming, scuba divers, boats etc. Eat, eat and then eat some more!
Rocket Craze - Build a rocket and keep on upgrading it till you can reach the stars
Scraptank - You have a tank!
Chain Reaction - Nice 2 player game, you think you are winning one second and you lose it all the next!
Blendoku - You think you passed the color blindness test right, think again!
Jewels - Classic

Re: What Apps are installed on your smartphone?

Being a compute freak, I tend to optimize every bit of my Honor 6, don't really keep any unnecessary app.

SoundHound: To recognize any song, you should just whistle or buzz the tune.It catches it
CPU-Z: Its like a Resource Manager/About of phone
ChromeREMOTE desktop: Control my PC/Laptop from my phone
Coursera: Online courses
Neural Networks: Artificial neural network simulator and constructor
Xplore: Best file manager in the world, recommended for techies.
Merriam-Webster dictionary

For those nerdy moments:
Sound meter: To check the sound in dB
Seismograph
Fing: Network Analyser

For Guitar:
gStrings: guitar tuning
Chord!Free: Chords

Game:
2 Cars: Left/Right hand co-ordination game.

File Transfer(WiFI):
Superbeam
Xender (exclusively for the iPhone guys!)
