Went on a rampant gadget buying spree and ended up with the following:
1. LG UHD TV for the family - 96k
2. iPad 2017 for mum/me - 24k (It was retailing in India at 28k at that point of time)
3. iPhone 7 plus 32GB - 52k
4. Kindle Paperwhite -10k
5. iPhone 6s 16 GB for mum - 23k
6. iPhone 7 32GB for dad - 38k
7. Lambretta Watch for GF - 4.5k
8. iPhone 8 64GB for GF - 56k

Having spent a third of a million bucks in 2017, the only gadget that I find useless from the above list is the last one. We broke off soon! (the phone is still with me).

That said, a large part of 2018 will be dedicated to the mods and gadgets for the Silver Ray (review to come up by January end ).

After 2013 iPad Mini 2 slowed down with iOS 11 update, I had to buy a new iPad. Passed it on to the kid and upgraded to big iPad. Mac Air 13 (2013) working fine. My 2 year old phone is doing good. Wife bought Z2 for Jio compatibility. Hoping to get my 2010 10-inch Samsung N150 netbook screen and keyboard repaired soon. That'll go to my son for basic gaming, browsing, and youtube. Exp cost: 7k.

Overall, not impressed with big gadgets this year. So, a lot of money saved.

I went ahead and spent a little too much this year, I'm considering cutting down significantly next year. Need to save up!

1. Xbox One S 500GB - Around 18k
2. Ipad Mini 4- Around 19k
3. Apple Watch 2nd Gen- 28k
4. IPhone 7 32 GB- 33k (Exchanged iphone 6 for 10k)
5. iPad 2017 32 GB- 18k

The Xbox was bought from Europe and both the iPads were bought from the US saving me some significant cash. An increase in my pay has certainly brought the Apple FanBoy in me!

I normally do not spend much on gadgets and here is a list of all that I bought this year:

1. Asus zenfone 3 (1 for me and 1 for my dad): Rs.35 K approx with covers.
2. Lenovo laptop for my wife: Rs.33 K (got it quite cheap in Dubai. Same was around 46 K in India).
3. Wi-fi range extenders from D-link: 2 nos - approximately 2 K

The above stuff was bought out of necessity, as it was high time we got new phones. I will be buying a new phone for my wife before the year ends, so add another 15-20 K to the list

We also got a solar power system for the house. Costed us around 2.5 Lacs after government subsidy (god only knows when we get it).And now comes the fun part. Since we have excess solar power now, I bought 2 1.5 ton inverter Voltas AC's costing around 60K put together

We will get around 55K as government subsidy for the solar power system, hence looks like we are sorted for the summer with the AC's, without having to pay a single penny for the electricity!

Phew!Just because of this thread I realised how much money I spent this year. Nice idea!

Last year's spend was much more for my family at least, with everybody getting iPhones except me and also an iPad pro and a watch. So sticking with those phones for now. I got a moto 360 last year, but thanking my stars now that got a full refund almost 1 year later out of which it spent 6 months at the service center

Looks like the year started with a smartwatch and ended with one. Though it remains to be seen how a non-apple watch is going to pair up with Apple phone.

No major spends planned in 2018, as most of the gadgets are new and good to last for another 2-4 years easily, barring probably the phones.

Collectively I think TBHP members have spend close to a small nation's GDP worth on gadgets this year. And may be double even triple that on cars.
