I have CAS set up box installed instead of a DTH (I am in South Delhi)..Do you think it will work well on LCD tv or I have shift to a DTH..Secondly set top box have an output which can be connected to the TV input..
The cable STB is good enough. But if you want your audio also to be good & in stereo, then DTH is the best. STB is connected to the TV through RCA outputs. Some STBs even have scart.

Few questions that comes to my mind is : I have CAS set up box installed instead of a DTH (I am in South Delhi)..Do you think it will work well on LCD tv or I have shift to a DTH..Secondly set top box have an output which can be connected to the TV input..

What would be a very good option in plasma tv : a present day 42" hitachi, panasonic (have panasonic flat screen crt tv for the last 5 yrs...still good),samsung, sharp or to go for present day 40" LCD tv..Samsung,Sony,Sharp,Phillips.. Guess I am asking you to repeat urself .

Esteem_lover has replied to your question on the CAS/DTH.

I would suggest you go and take a look at the TV's in the market. Carry a DVD of a movie you like and see it on a few TV's.

Decide between LCD and Plasma based on your requirements. It's based on your personal choice. Both have different types of picture.

If your choice is plasma then the best buy would be the Hitachi if your budget permits else the samsung is also good. The Panasonic Viera is also a very good buy in between the price points of the hitachi and the Samsung.

For LCD I prefer the Samsung Mosel over the Bravia. Hitach/Sharp are substantially more expensive. The philips Ambilight with Pixel plus 2 i.e. 9831 series I believe is not yet available in India. Performance wise this is supposed to be the best.

x-360 is 1080i ready.

Yep a plasma will give you better quality imaging. Life expectancy of plasmas is also good, around 25000 hours...LCD screens give you less life, its just that an LCD will gradually develop dead pixels, and lose brightness while once a plasma's life period is up, it'll go kaput faster.

I own a 32" Bordeaux white. Awesome screen, and the folks back home are very pleased with it. Its 1080i ready. 1080P is more hype as of now, because movies will be like 15 GB each, while TV in India will lack the bandwidth for 1080p for at least 5 years more...

i dont understand this dead pixel. Is this a random thing or is it like i can for sure expect this to happen. I have used Laptops for 3+ years. And never seen a dead pixel in them. Or the technology is different from computer monitors???

I guess its 720p native. It just understands 1080i and then down converts to 720p...

Dear Guys, waiting for your responses, looks like you might have missed my post, so re-posting the key questions....

I have decided to go in for plasma tv as compared to lcd tvs because of following reasons -

Better contrast ratios, better brightness(1200cd/m^2 vs. 600cd/m^2), more natural colour reproduction, no problems of fast moving image blurring and cheaper price per inch of screen.

If plasma tvs have so many better features, why are the lcds supposed to be taking over plasma tvs????

One help required, am zeroing between the Samsung 42 inch plasma tv and the Hitachi 42 inch.....suggestions please? How big is the quality difference between the two and how good is the Hitachi after sales support in India?

Thanks

Hey Akshay,

Congrats on your buy :Cheering:!! I have also taken a look at Bordeaux 40" & kind of considering it.How much did you get it for (& from where?) & how's been your expereince so far..Which other brands did you consider & reasons for rejection..Pls do let me know as I am also trying to close out on the LCD tv. Did you take a look at Samsung Mosel 40" as well?

Thanks

the mrp is 99k now. i got it for 93k. i was also looking at the fullhd mosel 46 and 40inch. and the mosel 40inch. after thinking about it i realised that full hd is actually useless unless you have a ps3 or blue ray player. the 40inch fhd mosel and the 40inch neo mosel werent in stock so i couldnt see them.

i was mainly looking at samsung because i had bought a 26inch a few months ago and am very happy with it.

the tv is very good. the speakers and decent. the colour and brightness is very good and watching on it is at a whole new level.

Sharp have launched a new model of their aquos LCD's. these are 100Hz TV's to reduce the motion blur of LCD's. Also the response time is now 4ms.

PS:can the thread title be changed to just LCD rather than 32"? mods please.

IMO too expensive and not worth it, what with prices plumetting down every month.

Yup,I agree what with the exhorbitant prices of LCDs ..I have decided to wait & watch (& more of Look & See) for the Plasma/LCD buy..still not convinced to shell out great amt of hard earned money YET! Esp.with prices coming down...

basically for anything below 40" LCD's are the best bet. Anything above 40" Plasma is the way to go.

thats because you dont get plasmas below 37". and it depends what you want the tv for. both have their pros and cons.
