check out the clarity, if you feel its good enough then go-ahead if its not a demo piece.

the series 3's -ve points where its low contrast ratio and the lack of clarity. price wise for a 46" it's a good deal.

was quoted 95k for a 46" series 6 and 75k for the series 5 here in hyd.

Recent deals I came across:
1. In mysore happened to visit KT Street and they were offering Onida/Videocon 32" LCD for Rs23,000 !!!
2. Saw an ad in TOI from Ezone. 32" LCD from LG with upscaling dvd player and HDMI cable for 35k. And if you find any deals that are cheaper, Ezone will pay you double the difference.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll wait till that time. Any idea what extra features/specs will be there in the new models? I assume that they might have launched the model outside India already? Any idea about the corresponding models number for this new series?

Guys! Bought a Panasonic th 50pv80D for 93 k here. Which I think was a great price here (in Ludhiana).
But was offered a LG plasma 50'' HD ready for just 65 thousand rupees & a LG 50" Full hd plasma tv for 1.20 lac (both list price), But I didn't like the colors on the LG was bleeding colors on the outlines.

But my experience with Panasonic has been good so far , with my earlier 42pv80, so have gone in for this, besides its gonna be used to watch SD transmission on Tata Sky all the time, so didn't feel the need for a Full HD TV.

However another TV that I liked was a 46" Sony Bravia V series (46V550, IIRC), full HD, newly launched, available for a cool one lac rupees.

Hi Guys,

Ordered Samsung LA40B550 this is new model ( last year's were LA40B.. ) got under a promotional deal for employees at 58650Rs. This has 4 HDMI input USB slot and 70000:1 contrast.

Seeking one advice is there a good off the shelf solution for protecting LCD TV from harmonics?

My apartment has a generator and I have experienced few PC components goning kaput at regular intervals , Although no one can be sure of root cause but that is the biggest suspect in the chain seems to be the generator. (This Despite Proview UPS in place and UPS manufacturers claim on providing clean sine wave by filtering our harmonics) now I shut down PC and switch off laptop charging before switching the supply to generator in case of power cut.

Earlier with 29 inch LCD it was not possible to run on gen. as MCB would trip due to high initial surge but with that limitation gone my family members would be tempted to continue watching while on gen.

Regards

May be something wrong with your UPS.
Get yourself an isolation transformer - will take care of it I'm told!
