Guys, has LG increased prices of plasmas? I got following quotes after 29" CRT exchange:
LG 42PQ70:
Vijay sales: 43K
LG Shopee: 42K
I have seen people reporting 39-40 after exchange. Let me know shops in pune where prices would be cheaper.

Neon,
i just checked the prices of both Pana C10D and LG 42PQ70 and here are the rates :
Rajesh trading (pana dealer) : C10D -- 39500 without exchange
Radhika Sales ( both Pipmri and Nigdi) -- Pana C10D 39500 without exchange ; LG 42PQ70 42000 without exchange; 42PQ60 40500 without exchange
Vijay Sales : Pana C10 D -- 41500 without exchange
LG 42PQ70 -- 48500 without exchange
I am thinking of ordering the PQ70 from Radhika -- only catch is he doesnt have a piece available for immediate delivery and wants me to wait for a week. Need suggestions if there are other places where i can try and haggle the prices more. I have not tried the LG shoppe at Baner as yet.
Hi KP,
I visited "Mahavir" in kothrud and got a quote of 38K for LG 42PQ70 after 29" CRT exchange (Without that its 42K). I was happy with the SD content but then the 720p HD content was too good to look at. He was using some upscalling model of a DVD player for the HD content. Following is the finance scheme on LG:
1. 35% on credit card (13300/-)
2. 2112/- EMI for a year (25344/-)
3. No processing fees. So overall 644/- (13300 + 25244 - 38000) extra for a year
I have 40K ready but then I can invest 25K in stocks for a year by going ahead with finance scheme clap:

hi Neon,
I got the following finance quote from Bajaj guy at Radhika :
1. downpayment of Rs 9538
2. 14 EMIs of Rs 2355 (Rs 32970)
3. No processing fees.
So the LG 42PQ70 works out to Rs 42511 instead of 42000 with the finance scheme.
In an earlier post, I had mentioned that an LCD TV will be the most appropriate one as a monitor for the PC.
Finally, I moved my Windows 7 Media Center PC to the living room and coupled it to my LG42LH60 LCD TV with the HDMI port of the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4550 (fanless) Graphics card feeding the HDMI2 input of the TV.
Switching on the PC, I was thrilled when the desktop showed up in full glory in 1920*1080 resolution.
The EZ Commander Remote is used to navigate and browse the web. The on-screen keyboard comes handy for typing web address, user id , password etc. I may now go in for a compact palm-sized Lenova multimedia Remote with Keyboard. See it
here
Two more screen shots on how Team BHP appears on the browser. IE is set to display large fonts and at 150% zoom.
It will be interesting to know how these appear on a 42" Plasma TV. For a one to one comparison, I may request those using Plasmas to try and post the screenshots.
It will be pertinent to mention that the above screenshots are not photographs but captured with Snagit9 screen capture utility. While I have used a licensed version, a 30day fully functional trial version of the same can be downloaded from
here .
Samsung has started "Thanks a million Celebration" offer. In this you get a free gift with every LCD/Plasma.
I bought a Samsung 46B530 Full HD 46" LCD on Friday for 73200.
I got a Samsung Home Theater HT-Z320 free with it (MRP 15990).
Guess, it is very good offer price. :)
46" is humongous! Congrats and enjoy your new assets.
@mukeshgoel nice buy.
But keep in mind that you do use HD content to see the true capability of the set. Do they give HT with blueray player?
I am planning to buy a LCD screen for my Desktop which currently has a CRT screen. LCD screen is for better clarity and lower energy consumption. Any suggestions on the size /brand which would come in the range of 4-6K Rs.
@DieselFan: You have lots of options but remember to check the warranty part. Depends on your usage too, speakers and 16:9 aspect for movie viewing, simple and 4:3 for excel work and also PS work. Benq, AOQ, LG, Samsung all are at same level, its the warranty that matters. Remember all dealers buy these at 3.5k range and sell for 9k range. Bargain hard as they are always in black when they sell.
Thanks Sniper.
I have JBL speakers with me so I just need the monitor. It is primarily for surfing but would also watch videos/photos/movies 20% of the time.
Any idea on Screen Size and the costs? This info will give me some benchmark for negotiations. Also where in bangalore do you get the best deal. I would like to retain this monitor for at least another 4 years so need at least 2 years warranty.
Thanks in advance.

The HT is not with Blue-ray player. Its DVD.
But, I have couple of Blue-ray movies copied to my portable hard disk and I play it through my Xtreamer media player and the quality is totally out of this world.
I am very happy with my decision after the watching the contents in my home. Sometimes, what we see in showrooms is different than what you actually see at your place because of different lighting, settings and the contents being played.
well done!
looks like you got yourself a good deal! congrats!
We have a Samsung too - and I can tell you that we are extremely happy with the quality - its not given any trouble these last 3 years or so that we have had it.
We are also more than happy with the after sales service aspect of Samsung in comparison with many other manufacturers.

Thanks, even I have a 3 years old 32 inches Samsung Bordeaux and a 4 year old 26 inches LG. The quality Samsung is much much better than the LG. May be now LG is also giving same quality but for me, its Samsung anyday.

I recently bought ( on 12 Aug 09 ) an 18.5" BenQ T900HD LCD monitor for Rs. 6400 at Staples, opposite to Forum Mall. The factors that swayed me in its favour are
DVI port in addition to D-sub, built-in-speakers (naam ke vaasthe but still something better than nothing), 16:9 display with a resolution of 1366*768. It is doing its duty in my mother's consulting chamber elsewhere, coupled to my first-built Windows XP Media Center PC in a beautiful Antec Fusion cabinet. ( no longer a media center :)).
Have a look at it amongst others.
