re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

All 40-42 inch 'good' LCDs now cost 42-43k with bill.

Those at 32k etc dont play various movie format via USB and may not have various goodies.

Could you if you know, list out the best models in this price range with all or at least the most "goodies"

Could you tell us what video formats are supported to be played from USB port. This information is not available in the product specs on the website.

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

Need some help here

Its been a long time since we got the Sony TV. Say close to 7 years. So, Planning on buying a new TV. (Or rather TV's since i need to buy 2)

Preferences and Budget : Should be LED. I need one bigger TV for the hall and the other smaller one for room. So a 46 inch one and a 32 inch one should suffice ? Need to get both of these around 1.25 Lakh.

Don't have any preference to Brand. I would pay for more useful features than for the Brand name Any suggestions or pointers are much appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

As per the Sony website, divx SD is supported but divx HD is not supported.

Were you able to play divx/avi files in full HD format (1080) ?

Call croma tollfree number. They will tell you all details regarding availability for demo at store/price etc.
What size are you interested in? If its 50" Croma/other panasonic dealers currently have a excellent offer on Panasonic 50VT20 (MRP 1.9L). It is last years top of the line 3D model and used to retail for 1.3L till about a few months before. Its now available for 74K with few freebies in croma.

Will check it out, however ideally I am looking at 42" for the room.

For that size too there is a good deal on 42GT20 ~50K again last years 3D model and top of the line from Panasonic for this size in India. This also has 2d-3d conversion. It will be hard to find stocks though.

Any feedback on how LG Plasma are compared to Panasonic. Aesthetic wise LG looks good. How is the performance between the 2 ?

Pany is leaps better than LG in every aspect of picture -just no comparision. Samsung plasma is better than LG but still Pany is the best plasma.

Panasonic has the best plasmas. Colours are really rich & blacks are truly black. The Koreans have much better aesthetics but cannot match the Panasonic on picture production. Also most of the time the Panasonic models are "thicker" (side) than equivalent sized LG/ Samsungs

re: The TV Thread - LCD, Plasma, LED etc.

HI,
I am in a dilemma.
Wish to gift my parents a 32 inch lcd as a diwali gift.
Their primary viewing will be Tata sky and an occasional move via usb.

Have selected these 2 tvs-
KLV-32CX420 : CX420 Series : BRAVIA
and
KLV-32NX520 : NX520 Series : BRAVIA

The difference while comparing on Sony india site is -
Product Comparison : BRAVIA

1.-NX520 has digital noise reduction and Cx420 does not.
2.- NX520 can swivel/tilt and cx420 cant.
3.-Cx420 has a light sensor and NX520 does not.

Rest all the features are same.
CX420 - 34900.
NX520- 37500.

So kindly suggest which one to buy and are there any other better options available?

Also i came across this on Sony site- Extended Warranty

Is it worth to spend 2k for another 2 year warranty on the tv?

Great idea of gifting it to your parents.I'll try to answer your queries one at a time.I'm not an expert but it might help.
1. Regarding noise reduction-I don't see much of a difference when you are viewing regular channels.I've turned off and on these features on my set and there is not much difference while watching TataSKY.
2. Swivel/Tilt- If your TV is going to be wall mounted, these things wont matter. The swivel feature is with the stand and is useful when TV is placed on a lower stand.
3. Light sensor- The NX series is monolithic design wherein the LCD is covered by glass which decreases the glare so that could be the reason for it not having light sensor.

Lastly, dont go by the price quoted on the website.I recently purchased a 40" BRAVIA LCD and was in a dilemma whether to go for BX or CX or NX series.Went ahead for BX420 KLV-40BX420 : BX420 Series : BRAVIA and i paid Rs.45,000/- for it with bill and genuine warranty.

I have not taken the extended warranty.
