Thank you for sharing the link. Most companies seems to be charging the same give or take a few thousands. I'll visit a store to hopefully make side-by-side comparisons and post my impressions here.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

A question to the Tech Gurus on this thread.

Today at Croma I found 4K TVs of 32 - 43 inches costing upto Rs 50K.
But the same 4K TV in 55 inch and above are more than 1.5 Lakhs.
Why is there such a disparity in pricing.
What boosts up the pricing for the bigger screen.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hi all,

I am planning to buy a 55 inch 4K TV in the coming sale. The options I am considering are Mi, VU & Blaupunkt. Could you please suggest which one I should go for.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

I want to buy a UPS for my TV (55inch) as the switchover from mains to generator (and reverse) takes a few seconds in my society and the TV gets switched off every time. Since it is an android TV, powering on takes about a minute and is a pain.

I looked up online and APC seems to be a hit or miss.

Any suggestions as to which one to buy

Interesting to hear those mixed opinions online. I've been using a 600 VA APC UPS for my 50" TV for the last 1.5 years, and it's been smooth sailing (model BX600C-IN).

UPS - best to buy from a shop, or a trusted place like the IT Depot. Amazon India has UPSes, but the one time I ordered one, I found it was 1.5 years old. I've since purchased a few UPSes from the IT Depot, and always got something manufactured in the last 3-4 months. The age of the battery matters, particularly as they are warehoused in quite adverse temperature conditions.

I got a APC Smartups 1200 (or is it 1500 one of the two) about 6 years ago. It drives all my home entertainment - Panasonic 42 Plasma, a yamaha AVR, Tatasky, Playstation, dvd player and Amazon fire stick and I have never ever had even a flicker when the power cut happens and the backup takes a few mins to switch on.
Maintenance has been almost 0, as the only think I have had to change once were my APC batteries.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

Even Blaupunkt is bringing out TVs now! Rebranded Chinese TVs?

Have a Samsung 40 inch full HD LCD TV purchased back in 2010 still going strong. The thick bezel is the only downer. Otherwise it works great. Might consider adding a Chromecast/Fire TV Stick later.

And Amazon have released an updated Fire TV Stick as well, so you'll be spoiled for choice.

Bought the same model today. Got it for 1,10,000 and the cash back offer and a free Sony Bluetooth speaker worth 10k after visiting many showrooms in NCR and comparing all brands. Was getting a LG for a great deal of 80k but somehow I couldn't convince myself due to better PQ in Sony. Will be installed day after tomorrow.

We have a Samsung and LG led as well which had been going great. However, side by side in PQ Sony beats all. LG had better features and speakers. That can be taken care off by a sound bar or home theatre.

It's funny how things work. I was going to buy the 55 inch Iffalcon and was getting a great deal in this sale too but then decided on seeing what all stuff is available and ended up paying for more than twice my initial preference. My plasma did more than 10 years brilliantly. I hope this Sony one does at least more than 5. My wife is still amazed how I spent so much on a TV when I keep telling her Xiaomi and One plus phones are VFM and Apple is for show offs.

Will update more after using for few days.

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the tip. I was planning to buy online in the upcoming sales but your point makes sense, i will buy locally.

How good is this Panasonic 55FX650D? Amazon is having a sale today for 70K, which sounds good for a branded TV. Any reviews?

APC is good!

But are these sine wave UPS? I believe if not, it can damage electronics power supply unit.

Someone I know has bought LG 55 inches UHD For 67K. I think you can get better options for that price if you negotiate well.

These UPSes are typically stepped to a sine wave, not a smooth sine wave. However, that shouldn't be an issue. The one I use (for instance) is designed for use with a computer, so it will be quite alright, with such electronics as well.

Furthermore, our modern (solid-state) electronics mostly come with an AC-DC brick, so they will handle it well (maybe just draw a little more power).
