The premium for a 4K TV over a full HD one is currently around 7K depending on the brand.

The TV would be used for watching Amazon Prime/Netflix/Hotstar/Sony Liv and Youtube. Cable TV is very unlikely to be subscribed.
I am in the same boat while upgrading from 5 years old Toshiba 32" TV.

I am more inclined towards Samsung for the VA panels. They are great for movie watching due to deeper blacks.

Question: Whether to go for 50 grands for UHD or 43 grands for FHD. UHD is future proof but not sure on the longevity of the big displays.

Like in India, does Amazon.com have frequent sale events? One of my relative is visiting me in October, I can ask her to get one if I can grab one at $15 which is quite cheap compared to what it retails for in India.

Unfortunately, PRIMEDAY is once a year and so the most awaited.

Guys, try out the Oreo TV app. Using it since a week, found it great.

Works on Android phone and TV.

No credentials needed.

Re: The TV Thread - LCD, LED etc.

Dear members, I am looking for a 4K 43 inch+ TV for my parents in India. I am inclined for LG brand. I am curious if it makes sense to buy it in US and get it to them while travelling back or is it better to buy it in India? Any pointers will be helpful.
Thank you

But would the brands like VU, TCL compare to Sony, Samsung, LG?

Please do not buy the Vu Smart TV, the android OS is full of bugs, its very slow to respond, their support or the technician do not have any idea other than doing a reset. Forget about getting any kind of software updates irrespective of how serious the issue is.

I also have a Mi Smart TV, Remote is sleek and has voice search.OS is fast and has less bugs comparatively.

Thanks

Thanks, will try this one too.

BTW, have downloaded THOPTV, for android TV. Using it on MiTV.

Works like a charm, plays all channels via JioTV. It has all webseries also. All movies, latest old.

The content was too much too to even browse and understand. Took me around 2 hours to browse through the content (channels+webseries+movies - latest and old)

Also checkout HDStreamz. Also, a new video shows some more apps to try out.

Could you please share the link to the app for download? Just couldn't find it on playstore!

The only problem here is that "Mi" has manufactured this set. I know you've laid out the investment for this set but the Chinese are cheap for a good reason, zero R&D and zero testing.

Stick with the Japanese if you want quality and long performance life, the South Koreans and Chinese electronics and consumer durables are all about smokescreens and glitter, inside they are possibly the worst quality one can ask for.

Its the opposite with cars though, South Koreans have far better quality here while Japanese and Chinese make hollow tin cans.

Pls. do give it a try if Patchwall allows side loading of apps. Since the newer TVs boot into Android, I tend to forget using Patchwall.

It can be side loaded on an Android TV Box. You can install it directly on TV if it's Android. Fire TV Stick, precisely, not checked yet.

Jio TV is inbuilt, and so is Airtel Live TV. Just go to the "Live TV" menu and start watching.

Thank you. Read somewhere that it supports Ad (pressing Back button on the remote closes the Ad) and sometimes shows adult ads too, so I didn't try it.

Overall, happy with what Oreo TV has to offer on mobile as well as TV platform.
