Khanak- Anything above 37 would be too big for my room... 37inch is just perfect. I know most content now is not full HD but i am gonna use the tv for atleast 4-5 years so i wanna make sure that i am well equipped for future higher res content Besides i dont think there is that much of a price diff between this model and a non HD Sharp LCD.

Akshay- I know Hitachi is a good company, I have a Hitachi Plasma for over 2-3 years now and have had no problem with it. But i have heard that Hitachi is not as good with LCD as they are with Plasmas?

the easiest thing to do would be to look at the picture quality compared to the other brands. i dont think any other brand besides hitachi and sharp make 1080p 37" lcds.

But keep in mind, as of today we have almost no full HD source in India. You would need a HD-DVD player / Blue ray player along with regular supply of HD media for 1080p to really make sense.
If you have an Xbox or Playstations with HD output then you can very well go for True HD.

Nice explanation there.. I am planning to buy LCD screen after diwali.

After reading few pages i have decided that i will go for 40" Screen so i can keep it atleast 4-5 years. And whenever i buy ps3 or xbox it should be useful. and will go for 1080p models only.

Can you guys please sortout few models for me ?

Go to the showroom and buy the one you like most
LG/Sharp/samsung/panasonic/sony.... All make good TVs.
So pick up one for your budget, and trust your eyes

Hitachi 37LD9800TA (37-inch LCD) - TV Review - CNET Asia

Is this a good choice or are there any other options i could consider?
I dont think you will get 9800TA for 62K. Thats a "made in Japan" model and with higher specs. 9000TA is a scaled down "SE Asian" model which should be available at that price. Note that in the above link itself it is priced at about US$2k. I am going for 9000TA, will get it delivered tomorrow.

The present generation of 40" and above LCDs do not have a decent picture quality (or the higher end models are too expensive). HD at this range is also a new introduction.
So all those people considering HD upgrade later (not immediate need), consider this that next year the upgraded (better technology) 40" HD LCD TVs will be available at 30% less. (and the present models will be available at 50% discount, if available).

This price drop is a global phenomenon and is expected to continue.

This year my take would be a 32" LCD TV (because that has a livable PQ), which I can later move to bedroom. Or a 42" HD plasma display, if that size is required.

The 32LE7 is a very old model. Infact if you look at panasonic brochures the cheapest TV they have in 32" is the LX 70 which costs 44K(without any xboxes)
Only stores like big bazaar etc., which have old stock are offering this xbox deal. They are currently not even carrying new stock from panasonic.

Appuchan, have you compared Hitachi 37" (available at 75k) with Samsung 37" (available at 65k)?

As far as I am aware Hitachi does not have same standing in LCD segment as it has in Plasma. After Sales Service will also be better for Samsung, due to their presence...

If your primary purpose of this TV will be gaming then you can go with 37". It will give more immersive feeling. Moreover with HD signal, most LCD TVs will perform very well.

I disagree here. The biggest drawback with LCD was action. When you are watching a movie from 8 feet, you may not feel much, but with high speed gaming, it may give you a headache.
If you look at LCD monitor forums, you will find most people complaining of the "flicker effect" due to slow response times. Even LCDs with claimed 8ms may have a problem.

So before you invest 60K, play a game on the LCD, or watch a movie like Cars. The opening race scene will tell you a lot.
