You need to follow them up... they must have lost your application.

Does any of you face same problem? Does Airtel and other Service providers face the same problem?
Broadband ADSL is always on the same line as the phone. In other words, the voice signal and the broadband signal is carried on the same wire.
You have to employ a filter to separate the broadband signal and send it to your router, and the voice signal to your telephone. Perhaps your filter is not working?

Check you line and splitter. Most of the time its splitter fault. I also used to have same problem when i first installed BSNL broadband.. Told them to change the splitter the problem went away 95% the rest 5% is the line problem which i had to fix and is at my end only

I am surprised. In Goa, the broadband was allotted to me in two weeks flat. I was not ready in fact when they told me to activate it, as I had not yet got my modem and cabling in place. Don't wait for the BSNL modem, buy yours in the market, cheap and reliable ones abound.

I dont think any greasing is required. I got my connection in less than 2 weeks of application (in Bangalore) and most people I know also got it within 2-3 weeks.

The delay might be because:
-- They have run out of modems. This happens every once in a while. Buying your own modem should help here.
-- They have run out of port capacity on the CO side. I know there was a time when they were not giving new connections in Koramangla area.
-- They have lost your application.

I think the best way is to talk to somebody in the local-exchange (not the CSC) and find out.

My 256 kbps BSNL broadband connection is upgraded to 2Mbps and I can see the difference instantly. I have not measured the speeds yet.

Regarding connection, I got it within 15 days of applying. But I was one of the first few to apply in our area (Padmanabhanagar) at Bangalore and at that time, there was no shortage of modem/port, etc. People at BSNL were also not too competitive at that time. Now, I feel they are getting better, at least in my exchange. I know of a person who can attend to any issue in a jiffy and I am in fact impressed with his commitment. Of course, I never greased their palms.
