The Computer setup show-off thread. Let's see your rigs!

Different people use computer for different purposes. While for some, its purely for utilitarian use like browsing web, online shopping & paying bills. Some like to do development or official work. Many others use for photo / video editing while few others do gaming. Whatever your use case may be, there is no denying the fact that many people are passionate about computer hardware, audio & setups while some spend quite a fortune building one !

This brings me to the context of making this thread. While we do have a thread for hardware discussions here: (The Desktop Computer & Configuration Thread)

and also one for gaming here: (PC & Console games - Discussion Thread)

But we do not have a thread for showing off all the nice & cool setups many members might be having here. This will help people get ideas or give suggestions to viewers looking ahead to build their dream computer rig

The inspiration of the title is taken from this popular thread here : (The official alloy wheel show-off thread. Lets see your rims!)

I regularly follow Guru3D & randomfrankp for the best setups & inspirations from world over.

I was planning a major upgrade to my rig by the end of this year, once the NVIDIA 3000 series GPUs & AMD 4000 series desktop CPUs release, but with the whole pandemic situation, I'm not so sure about the financial viability of that upgrade anymore. Let's see how things turn out...

Aah i didn't notice that thread !

You have a really nice and compact desktop setup with one of the best GPU from few years back. Mind sharing any 3D Mark benchmark numbers to show how it performs ?

Here in India i have seen many gaming chairs, but hardly come across gaming desks. I also wanted to build a more configurable & powerful desktop system, however unfortunately for me i don't stay in my hometown bungalow in Kolkata anymore, and currently in Pune on rent for work. So i bought a more portable laptop & some el cheapo furnitures to go along with it.

You can add a second monitor in this vertical stack setup which is becoming fashionable these days. Takes less horizontal space compared to conventional side by side stacks.

Wow that's one beefy setup The RGB looks great ! Mind sharing your 3D Mark benchmark numbers ? Logitech needs to update their 5.1 Z906 series which is missing current gen features like HDMI Arc, Bluetooth & Light Sync which many newly released 2.1 systems like G560 are having.

I thought about buying 3DMark many times, but never ended up doing it. I just bought it this morning to provide the results here, lol

Gaming desks are overrated honestly. You'll be surprised to know that I'm not that happy with mine, but will live with it for the next couple of years I think.

I understand your train of thought. Furniture is a restriction, but moving a desktop PC is really not difficult me thinks...

Great thread indeed
I have been a big fan of custom rigs and have had quite a few ideas for the same. Until now lack of Vit M prevented me from acting on it, but your posts are inspiring enough for me to attempt something in near future.
Thanks

Re: The Computer setup show-off thread. Let's see your rigs!

After a long wait and after thinking about desktop vs laptop. I finally built a new desktop in February.

Below is the configuration

AMD Ryzen 5 3600
MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz RAM.
Intel 660p 512GB NVMe SSD
Inno 3D RTX 2060 Super 8GB
DeepCool Gammax GT CPU cooler
Antec NE650 semi modular 80+ Bronze rated PSU
Antec NX800 case.

Excuse the poor quality GIF, team bhp doesn't allow uploading videos.

Well i have mixed feelings about giving desktop to movers & packers. I know a friend whose cabinet & components were badly damaged during transit. Same reason i self drove my car from Kolkata - Pune instead of giving it to M&P which was sponsored by company.

Btw although i own the license of 3D Mark + PC Mark + VR Mark from Steam which i got through some crazy deal, you don't actually need a paid version for the default demo & score. However its a really nice tool for anyone interested in computer bench marking & overclocking and paid version gives you extra options shown below

Just click Download Demo link instead of purchasing

Great ! The beauty of desktop are the lateral upgrades. You can start off with the CPU+MOBO+RAM and add the GPU, extra RAM, HDD & peripherals later.

I see you are based in Pune. We have a bhpian named Amey Gokhale who owns one of the popular computer hardware stores here focusing on gaming systems mainly. You can check him out here:

Nice ! Desktop is always >> Laptop
For videos, you can upload them on YouTube and post the link here.

Sorry, I meant carrying it yourself. I would never trust my PC to packers & movers!

I did in fact go through the 3DMark website, which takes you to the same link you shared, but there is no option to use this application for free in Steam here in Belgium. You have to buy it.

Fortunately, I know of a good website for buying game/application licenses much cheaper, and I got the 3DMark Steam license key for 57% off on that site.
I am not commercially associated with the website in any way, but can vouch for their authenticity, because I have bought multiple applications and games from them. In case anyone is interested in taking a look at what else is on offer at that website, the link is: https://www.g2a.com/

Impressive rigs All. Seeing a shift towards AMD chips off late. Does not surprise me. The latest Zen series has been killing it.

The gaming performance difference between the top tier XX80 Ti cards vs Titan cards really doesn't justify the price difference for me. You pay double the money to get a 5-10% FPS gain, which becomes even less as you go up the resolution ladder, which is exactly what I am planning to do with my next upgrade.

Here's a benchmark video demonstrating exactly what I mean:

I don't want to take this thread off-topic, because it was created for people to showoff their rigs, but let me just add that I have a lot of other upgrades in mind along with that CPU & GPU upgrade, which just the price differential between the 2080 Ti & Titan would cover, lol.

If we want to continue the discussion on configs, then we should probably continue that on this thread: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadge...uration-thread

Cheers
