Team-BHP - Inverter or generator?

i think ours is the same as Lohith's

trolley another 650
total - 16350-16500 or something like this.
It is a Sine Wave inverter.
800 va backup power
powers 4 fans and 6 tubelights OR 8 CFL lamps around the house and guarantees a backup of 3 hours at full load.
If one is judicious in the use of fans and lights then the backup will be much more.
It cannot power a TV/Voltage Stabilizer and Iron etc.
It can power a laptop but the switch behind the inverter has to be set to "Sine Wave" mode.

Ouch! I paid Rs 4400 for a Microtech 850 VA sine wave model in Lucknow last week. (and 12700 Rs for a 180 Ah Battery). Didn't know Crompton Greaves also made inverters.

sorry guys even i dont have the bills right now
i bought it because bangalore is becoming very erratic with power supply
and CG is a good brand + most importantly the dealer was willing to offer servicing without too much trouble, which wasnt the case with other brands like TEZ and so on.
I will re-check the breakup and share later.
but for a total of 16350 i think it is well worth it. atleast one is guaranteed an uninterrupted, mosquito free sleep at night (bangalore's ambient temperature certainly helps so an AC is not strictly necessary).

Sankar, i am sorry to say, either your inverter is not CG, or else it is not 800 va.

no way CG can provide 800va inverter so cheap. Even a local assembled 500 va one cost about 2500.

a fan is 60 watts, tube light is 40 watts, cfl is mostly 16 or 20 watts, and a 21 inch tv is about 100 watts.

now you can calculate how much load an 800 va inverter can provide.
i.e., about 8 fan and 8 tube light.

a 21 inch tv needs just 100 watts to work. If your dealer says it powers 4 fan and 4 tube, then it most probably is 400 watts, and I dont think CG manufactures a 400 va inverter.

I was kind of zeroing on Sukaam Digital Inverter MAK series 650VA/12V and SF Sonic battery 130 AH for my home. The cost is coming approx to 14100 (4800+9300) and 800/- for wiring. I will have to install a suport since it going to be above the main wiring box which might cost me another 1000/-. Is the inverter deal worth it. How is Sukaam's After Sales? Any other good brands I can go for.
I tried to see if there are any CG dealers in Thane, Mumbai. Could not find any on CG website. Any ideas.

ghodlur, at my parents place in Bangalore we have Sukam, it has been kind of trouble free but being a sine wave the fan makes noise and the buttons dint work that well...

For 130Ah i think you need to go for a 800VA inverter

Update on Videocon - I guess Videocon has stopped selling inveters. My order got cancelled due to non-availability - I had bought one through Indiatimes.

So I am in the market again. Can someone suggest some good shops in Bangalore to buy inverter and battery from. Essentially a shop with some options and will not take one for a ride. I live on Old Madras Road so shops in this part of town will be better.

If the load is 600 VA on paper you must add 15% margin and then arrive the rating which with the safety margin is 690VA so 800VA is ideal. The inverter will bear the load better and heat up less thereby giving longer trouble free service life.

lohitrao, that is very surprising. We too use a Sukam 1400 VA Sine wave and there is not even a flicker when the supply goes off and no humming from any appliance either. Have you shown it to the Sukam service guys?

Are you sure that the model is a pure sine wave model ? Even square /quasi square models are also known as sine waves but not pure sine wave. Just clarify this point.

I purchased APC Inverter from Metro for Rs.5,538. (800VA capacity)

Battery: AMARON 150AH for Rs.8100/- with exchange of an old battery from a dealer in Sanjaynagar.

Works fine so far.
