How is the sound output? Is it similar to Bose's lofty standards?
The sound is good. No doubt about it.
I think these are significantly more than 2 years old and they perform as good as new. I used them to test them out just now.
However, I would say that my iPod/iPad/ iPhone OEM Apple earbud type earphones are about as good.
I may be biased because none of these in ear things really fit my ears and they keep falling out ( I probably have deformed ears)
For reasons of overall comfort I vastly prefer the Big Over Ear or On Ear type of headphones.

Which earphones?-32902_00_1000x1000.jpg

Ergofit:

Which earphones?-panasonicrphje125400x400imadk6xfg22fzghd.jpeg

Pros:

1) Extremely comfortable to use.
2) Unique in ear design
3) Good Bass and Mids
4) Light weight
5) Noise cancelling at a reasonable price

Cons:
1) Tangly wires and they look fragile
2) No pouch provided, competition provide for basic fabric pouches at least

Currently, doing the Burning In process. Plan to do it for about 50 hours in 3-4 hour cycles each day.

Price- Rs. 599/-. Purchased from Brick and Mortar stores and not online as we wanted to use the Ticket Compliments voucher.

Overall, a great set.

Er I think you wanted to say Noise Blocking (termed loosely as Passive noise cancellation), rather than Actve Noise Cancelling.

High end Active Noise Cancelling headsets (eg. Bose Quitecomfort, Beats Studio) cost upwards of INR 25-30K!
Active Noise Cancelling sets contain an additional hardware module (powered by batteries or ext power supply) which in realtime cancels out perceived external noise and disturbances. (eg Aircraft/vehicle roaring, sawing, drilling, etc)

To add to this:

Active : Noise Cancellation
Passive: Noise Isolation (typically in your ears headphones)

@Racer

This is passive noise cancelling. Just a marketing gimmick by Pana to filter out surrounding noise.
It however does a decent job as you immerse yourself in music.

Re: Which earphones?

I'd just like to throw in my recommendation for an open-backed headset. The AKG Q701s are absolutely sublime, and it gets double the praise if you intend to use it for some gaming as well. Positional accuracy is spot on and everything is crisp and clear. The bass is punchy and tight too. One of the best audio purchases I've made in a while.

Re: Which earphones?

Planning to buy a smartphone-compatible In-Ear earphones for wifey. I own a pair of Sony in-ear buds and they deliver fantastic sound for 800Rs but they don't have a microphone.

Are there any decent in-ear buds that deliver the punch and also come with a microphone?

Birthday around the corner, please help!

If you are willing to spend arround 2.2k, I would highly recommend the sound magic E10S. Been using it for past year and half and totally satisfied

There is one from JBL - unfortunately, do not have the model number since I looted this from my brother
He said he picked it up for around 1K from reliance digital. Very good sound delivery and yes, this one do have a microphone also.

Thanks! Looking at it.

If going above 2K, I'm also open for over-the-ear headsets.

I would suggest you to go for Cowon EM1. Best earphones I experienced so far. Anti-tangle flat cable, Noise cancellation, amazingly good sound quality with decent punch and wider sound stage. With mic earphones cost around 1100. Recently I purchased Soundmagic PL30 for same amount but it was without mic. They are little open/natural sounding with very little bass. Not woth it infront of Cowon's.

I am using the Panasonic Earphone- RP HJE 125
MRP- Rs. 599/-(but you get it at Rs. 499/- on online stores)

Pros: Very good output and nice balanced Bass for this price range.
Good In ear fit and comes with three different bud sizes.

Cons: Prone to tangles. I hate this.
No Pouch provided.

Highly recommended.

Other Option:

1) Soundmagic ES 18 @ Rs. 550/-(Online Stores)

Re: Which earphones?

There is a great offering buy an Indian company named Tekfusion Technologies. I have used the Twinwoofers and the sound quality is very good.
It seems that Tekfusion has designed the product in India (Bengaluru) and outsourced the manufacturing to China. The build quality is great and it comes with a nifty pouch as well. Would recommend this over the Sennheiser CX180 and other earphones in the price band of Rs. 1000- 1500.
Here is the link to a review of the device.
