Guys,

I feel that I should now start streaming music on my laptop / external HDD to my current Sony Music system. There are a few options,

1) The Apple Airport express - Will it work on a laptop which runs Vista , flawlessy ?

2) Linksys Music bridge WMB54G

3) a couple of others including D-Link and Creative.

What do you guys feel ? Which one should I go for ? Also can I connect this device to my existing Wi-Fi router so that I can surf the net and listen to music as well ?

if any one has any reviews / views / experiences on the products mentioned - will be great.

I suggest look at other alternative like creative
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Wireless Music streaming 802.11b or 802.11g
199$
It also has a remote wherein you can see whats playing!
Other options are Logitech.
This linksys bridge seems to be great too.
DRM-free music streaming - CNET reviews

Then there is the bluetooth way(cheapest)
Sony : Bluetooth wireless music streaming : United Kingdom
But be aware that its like converting analog output of the headphone pin on your PC to bluetooth and then reconverting to digital.
Something like connecting your PC via a RCA cable to your HT, and not a direct Sound card feed

Linksys and Logitech have some cool products.
The Logitech is quite good as well.

I read in some reviews that the linksys is not Vista capable ? Is that true ? If true the whole concept falls flat.

Check this one from Dlink - Digital Media Lounge Looks promising - has a host of options to play your music even a built in external HDD slot.

Squeezebox kills all else for Wifi Streaming.

Slim Devices : Product Info : Squeezebox Wi-Fi Digital Media Player: Music, your way.

Airport Express - $100, set up in a couple of minutes and forget about it for the rest of your life.

All other WiFi enabled music solutions have issues with IP conflict, configuration of channels, et al. I used 3 different solutions before I bought the Apple Extreme, and nowadays I dont even realize it exists in the house except when I print wirelessly (yes you can also attach your printer to it and print from anywhere in the house).

Its a decision you wont regret. Go for it - $100 has never been better spent.

Can any one suggest some speakers that can connect either through A2DP ior any other wireless setup ?

I am not looking for a completely wireless setup, just want the 2.1 system to be in place, and should be make a wireless connection to laptop.

Or is their some device which can be plugged onto the 3.5mm jack of the speakers and would enable them to receive wireless input ?

Shashank.A,

I've merged your thread with an older existing one.

Keep in mind that A2DP is not (always) perfect replication of sound. I believe due to some technical reasons the higher frequencies (~15KHz and above??) get cut off.
However i heard recently that this depends on the A2DP profile used? Something to keep in mind.... I'd like to hear more on this as well.

Here's another thread that discusses wireless with perfect quality : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadget...dio-gurus.html
