Hi all, need your advice on an aspect for which I have no knowledge.
Can anyone suggest top software used by digital artists and the hardware needed for the same from beginners point of view.
1. There are so many applications in the industry (e.g. Procreate, Sketchbook, Krita etc.) that it is difficult to understand which one would be beneficial in the long run and would add value as per today's standards.
2. In terms of hardware Apple's newly launched M4 pro tabs looks lucrative but do these applications really need that much power? Or the previous generation tabs would suffice.
Is there an equivalent tab (e.g. galaxy) which can be equally good or better?
3. In terms of paid apps, I am more inclined towards one time payment vs monthly /annual subscription based apps. Is that a bad thing?
Note: I am not looking for anything related to audio/video editing or content creation. My requirement is limited to drawing sketches / painting etc.
Adobe products are generally the Industry Standard when it comes to Digital Arts. Alternatives are available such as Krita and you can go down that path too.
The idea behind a monthly payment subscription is to give you the flexibility to stop the subscription at any point. Its also easier for many to pay versus paying for an entire year which costs a lot more (Though maybe more value). Its also advantageous in the sense that, what if you don't like the App or Software.
In terms of hardware, Apple would be the way to go and you'll get by just fine even with the old M2 chip. The latest M4 isn't required at all as you're just getting started. You can go PC or Android too. I just feel there are limited options and hardware/software support, especially in the Android space. Nobody has really put a product out there that can rival something like a iPad (pro or even non pro) in terms of ease of use and a massive Artist focused App eco system.

Thanks for answering. Most artists sticking with Apple ecosystem is what I have found through my research as well. It terms of chip, I will go with M2 which seems to be more than enough to start with for apps like procreate and Krita.
